Did you know?
The best way to master cleaning is to start with the basics.
As part of the Buckeye Honors Training Program, custodial staff learn essential steps for routine cleaning procedures. We follow these five steps for cleaning classrooms:
1. High Dust in clockwise patterns around rooms, lockers, high ceiling areas, fans, and more.
2. Spot Clean- Wipe and inspect nonporous surfaces to remove marks and graffiti.
3. Dust Mop- Dust mop or sweep, starting at the entrance of the classroom and work around the room. For carpeted areas, vacuum thoroughly and spot clean using Buckeye tools.
4. Empty Trash- Regularly monitor trash cans and never push down trash. Sharp objects can hide underneath.
5. Damp Mop- Mop floors by outlining the area and utilizing the 8-figure technique.
✅ Don’t forget to review your checklist to ensure every area is covered! If you don’t already have one, make sure to sing up for Honors with one of our representatives and get a free checklist for your team.
