So when your cholesterol is “high” and you’re prescribed meds… the cholesterol (mostly) isn’t the problem… inflammation is the main problem… but it’s typically not checked on your labs… probably bc there’s not a medication to prescribe for it 🤷🏽. So we’re barking up the wrong tree and prescribing harmful meds blaming the wrong thing. If cholesterol meds are some of the most prescribed meds, but heart disease is still the #1 killer of Americans… maybe it’s because they don’t heal or prevent heart disease (bc they don’t). They may lower your cholesterol but that’s not a good thing. Don’t get sucked into the blanket statement that cholesterol is bad for you.
Next time you get labs, ask for markers like: CRP, Homocysteine, ox-LDL, Apo-B, a-LpA, pro-Bnp. These are more important for your heart. And if these are off, I’m still not using cholesterol lowering meds.
