Happy 1 year Birthday to us! We officially opened our doors 1 year ago. It has been a whirlwind starting a brand new business in the midst of a pandemic. With the toll this year has taken on the mental health of our community- I am grateful we have been able to serve others during this time. We learned a lot in a short amount of time and I would like to thank my husband and co-owner Matt for everything he has done for the business and everything he does for our family. I want to thank my supervisor Catherine for her guidance and encouragement- I have learned more about being a clinician from Catherine in this year than I have from all of my professors combined. Emma- thank you for being such an amazing friend, source of encouragement and safe place for me to unload all of my “stuff” haha! And to my office mate Kara- the office was lonely before you came and I have enjoyed your friendship, business advice and our talks more than I can express! And to all of my clients- thank you for all of the hard work you put in. Thank you for trusting me. I am honored to be a witness in your journey- you all amaze and inspire me daily.

We can't plan for every scenario, but these are some good things to talk about.

Motherhood is challenging for everyone, but the complex interplay of racism, discrimination in the medical system, generational weathering, and traumatic experiences, among other factors, mean that access to mental health resources for Black moms —…
