Congratulations to Stephen Spaziani aka “Spaz” on 4 years clean!!

“4 years ago today, I didn’t see a future. I couldn’t picture peace, purpose, or even making it another year. I wasn’t holding on because I felt strong, I was holding on because of love. I did it for my Grandfather. In my lowest moment, I kept thinking there’s no way he would want my story to end like that. So I made the decision to stay.

Staying turned into one more day, then one more week, then one more year. Now it’s been four. Four years of growth. Four years of hard lessons. Four years of rebuilding parts of myself I thought were gone forever. Life still isn’t perfect, and I still have tough days, but I no longer wake up wondering if I should be here. I wake up knowing I am here for a reason.

Four years ago, I was fighting just to survive. Today, I’m living. I carry my grandfather with me in everything I do, his strength, his courage, his heart. And if he can see me now, I know he’s smiling. Because I didn’t quit.” - Spaz

We’re incredibly grateful when alumni like Gary take a moment to share how life has unfolded since treatment. Stories like this remind us why we do this work—and why recovery, connection, and hope matter so much.

"I just want to take a moment to share how incredible Foundations Recovery Center has been since my last post and offer an update. I now have 14 months sober, and I could not have achieved this without the love and support of the staff. They have been there for me throughout this entire journey, helping me get my life back on track and moving in a positive direction.

On September 13, 2024, I was at the lowest point in my life. I was living in a rundown hotel in Florida and felt like I just wanted to die. My son called me and told me how he had been praying for a miracle since he was five years old—that God would deliver me and remove my obsession with alcohol—and that he hadn’t seen that miracle yet. I broke down and cried. It was a powerful wake-up call.

Shortly after that, I received a call from Foundations—and I know it was no mistake. God cared enough about me to place people in my path to make this miracle happen. He threw me a lifeline and opened doors I never could have opened on my own.

Today, my son is so proud of me. The miracle didn’t happen overnight, but my son never gave up on me—and neither did Foundations. And the miracle did happen.

If you are struggling with addiction, please put aside the fear and make that call. They are there to help. It will be the best decision you ever make toward a lifetime of freedom from addiction."
