We’re excited to share a summer camp opportunity for children with dyslexia! 🌿📚

This unique program is part of Mystic Lake Camp and has been running since 1997. Campers get to enjoy the full camp experience while also spending time each day in a supportive group focused on building understanding of dyslexia, connecting with peers who share similar experiences, and celebrating individual strengths.

Scholarships are available, and all proceeds go directly to Mystic Lake Camp.

Today is Autism Awareness Day 🩷

At Five Lakes Therapy, we are proud to support and celebrate the unique strengths, perspectives, and abilities of autistic individuals. Autism is not something to be “fixed,” it is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world.

As pediatric occupational and speech therapists, we are passionate about helping children build skills for independence while honoring who they are. Whether it’s supporting sensory processing, emotional regulation, communication, social interaction, or daily living skills, our goal is to empower each child to express themselves and thrive in their own way.

Communication looks different for every child and every form of communication is valid. We are committed to meeting children where they are and helping them find their voice in a way that feels meaningful and authentic to them.

Today and every day, we encourage awareness, acceptance, and inclusion. Let’s continue to create spaces where every child feels understood, supported, and valued.

💫 Develop early conversation skills

Before we label something as a “bad behavior”, we pause and look at the whole picture — sensory processing, motor skills, regulation, environment, expectations.

Behavior is information.

And when we address the root cause instead of just reacting to the behavior, real change happens. 💛

The toys themselves aren’t magic — how you play matters most. While playing, choose just 2–3 simple words and repeat them often. Pause, wait, and model the words again.

Your child is learning even if they aren’t saying the words yet. Play counts. Connection counts. And simple, everyday moments are powerful!
