Hi Everybody,
Well, I guess I let another month slip by! Wish I had something or someone to blame. I'll keep thinking about it... maybe there is a reason!! We are off to a slow start this 2026 year. When the card games start to slow down you can assume everyone is trudging through January and trying to stay warm.
The first planned event is Superbowl Sunday February 8. Bring a dish to pass or if you want pizza and wings, a contribution toward that if you can. It will be the same as it is every year. Some people will play cards, and some will watch the game and everyone will watch the half time show!! Last year was a little slow but more people have expressed an interest this year, so we expect a bigger crowd. Father Mark hope you can make it again this year! More on that next week. Did everyone see the Superbowl Board Melissa W. started to benefit the Clubhouse. The are still a few squares left so if you want to take a chance and help the Clubhouse out at the same time contact Melissa or the clubhouse at 315-250-7410. Thanks Melissa W. You are the best fundraiser we have ever had. We appreciate your talent.
Lori s. is celebrating 17 years very shortly. We just are not sure of the date. Congrats Lori S. Let us know when the date is so we can put it on the board. Then on March 9 Danny L celebrates a milestone... 25 years. No one thought that would happen, including Danny .. must be the twelve steps work for Lori S. and Danny L.!! How about anyone else. Are we missing any anniversaries?
We have done few things at the clubhouse. Sue L and Dustin A. cleaned out the Coat Closet in preparation for our new meeting room expansion. We are all very excited about this as we have secured a really nice pool table once we move the room. Pat O. has lots of great ideas for renovation of the rooms. It may take a while but once we are done we will have that open house we have been talking about since our move to this location.
We have been kicking around the idea of planning Shattering the Stigma Two sometime soon. The first Shattering the Stigma Speaker Series we held over five years ago was a huge success and lately we have been noticing how some people are being treated out in the public because of how they look. if you would like to be involved on the planning committee, let Sue L. know.
Last week Mark S. stopped in (he lives in Florida now) and w celebrated year 16 with him. Sue L made Maccaroni & Cheese and Delma W. made a great bean soup and Loi J made a pea soupp. Stephanie P. made her awesome potato salad that seems to go with anything we serve and it's usually the first thing we run out of! Pat O. made some homemade French bread that was really good. Of course, there was Delma W.'s strawberry cake and Pat O's cookies and yes w put out our staple.... Ice Cream. We were happy to see the return of Patti P and Dave B. and their doughnuts. Hey someone ate the sour cream doughnut that always belongs to Sue L. We were also happy to see Melissa W.... she actually tore herself away from football ! Welcome to newcomer Zella. Zella first day there and they taught her how to play cards. Another pitch player has emerged. Keep coming back Zella. Lois J as back again too yeah!! Lois J, Dema W. and David D. cleaned up. We think David D as hanging round to see if we would give him another carton of almost gone ice cream to clean up.
The week before we celebrated Pat O's five-year anniversary. It was a bittersweet day a Jeff S. was supposed to speak for Pat. Delma presented Pat with his coin and we had a big surprise when Brian D and Karen M
(Who are in Florida) sent 12 pizzas for Pat's Anniversary. Sue L made the salad and yes Stephanie P sent her potato salad that again was gone in no time at all. Thanks to Rusty, Tina C. and Jamie M. for coming in early to clean the clubhouse and Vic for getting the coffee ready. Welcome back Lois J. Its always nice to see you at the clubhouse. Thanks for washing the dishes, Lois.
Christmas Day and New Years Day meals were over the top as usual. Yes we had potato salad at each meal thanks to Stephanie P. We had about 35 people for each day and everyone joined in to help clean up and then everyone stayed and played cards. The only thing we were missing was the Game from Char B. Char had it all ready but by the time we got around to organizing the group a lot of people left. Thanks to all the people who prepared food. It was so good we didn't have left overs.
I'm sure I missed a lot of reporting... well that's because I didn't keep notes.
More next week ... fingers crossed
