It’s dark early and chilly 🥶 , and we lose the motivation to do the things we’re doing all summer long…we know, we’re sad about it too! Some of us feel this sadness deeper than others, which can be Seasonal Affective Disorder (also known as the “Winter Blues” Here are some tips from our therapist, Azu, on how you can beat the winter blues:
1️⃣ Lifestyle/Routine Change: On days where your schedule is more flexible, start your day as early as possible. This way you get to spend as much time in the daylight as possible!
2️⃣ Indoor Hobbies: It’s time to bust out those puzzles, learn new material, knit that blanket! If you don’t already have indoor hobbies you enjoy, it’s time to explore and gain some!
3️⃣ Bundle Up and Go Outside: This sounds like the opposite of what you may want to do, but trust us, a (bundled up) walk around your neighborhood or a trail, or even at the gym, will do you mind and your body well!
4️⃣ Friends: It’s time to check in with your friends and spend some time together. If being alone bothers you, this is your sign to schedule with loved ones in advance.
If you are in need of a deeper dive into your feelings and state of mind, we’re here for you 🌱 schedule your appointment to speak with one of our therapists and get the support you need, all covered by your insurance!
