Tummy time is one of the simplest ways to support your baby’s early development 👶✨
When babies spend time on their tummy while they’re awake and supervised, they’re building the strength and coordination needed for future milestones like rolling, sitting, and crawling.
During tummy time, babies work on lifting and turning their heads, which helps strengthen the neck and back muscles 💪 This early strength supports better posture and head control as they grow. It also helps prevent flat spots on the back of the head by taking pressure off the same area.
As babies push up and begin reaching, they’re strengthening their arms and developing the foundations for fine motor skills like grasping, holding toys, and eventually feeding themselves 🤲
Tummy time also supports brain and visual development 🧠👀 Looking around from a new position helps babies build visual tracking, depth perception, and awareness of the world around them.
Even their hips and legs are working during tummy time, stretching and strengthening the muscles they’ll eventually use for crawling and moving 🦵
If your baby struggles with tummy time, seems uncomfortable turning their head both directions, or gets frustrated quickly, a gentle pediatric chiropractic check can help assess spinal alignment and support better movement and comfort.
A healthy spine helps babies move, grow, and explore their world more easily 💛
