William Evan Treat

William “Bill” Evan Treat passed peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He truly had a Wonderful, Ambitious, and Full 87 years of life! Bill was born on March 26, 1939 in Elmira, NY to Basil and Edith Treat. He was part of the local cutest baby contest in 1941. Bill put his faith and trust in Jesus at a young age while listening to Pastor Charles E. Fuller on the Old Time Revival Hour explain that Jesus is the One Way to Salvation. Bill grew in his walk of faith as he continued to listen to good preaching. Bill graduated from Southside High School in 1957 in Elmira, NY. He attended Wheaton College (IL) where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Sociology. While in college Bill participated in ROTC, Varsity Wrestling, and Letterman’s Club. Bill served in the United States Army from 1962-1967. His service included time in Texas and Germany. He became a Captain on September 14, 1965. Exactly 3 years later on September 14, 1968, Bill was promoted to Husband when he married his sweetheart Susan Kenney. Bill and Susan were married for 57 and 1/2 years. They enjoyed traveling, spending time together, and their children and grandchildren. When Bill was asked about having a lasting marriage, he responded with the scripture, “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Bill’s interests included wrestling, playing the trumpet, acting, reading, and Jeopardy! Some of his favorite memories were meeting Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Mike Pence. Bill’s greatest meeting was when he saw his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on April 2, 2026. Bill loved to share his Christian faith and liked to ask those he met, “Will I see you in Heaven?” He had the assurance of an eternity in Heaven one day because he knew Jesus had died on the cross and rose again, and he had asked Jesus to come into his heart. If you have never asked Jesus to save you, would you do that now? This will give you the assurance of a beautiful home in Heaven for all eternity. As Bill would say, “See you here, there, or in the air!”

Bill was preceded in death by his precious daughter Amy, and his parents. He is survived by his lovely wife Susan; his brother Dave (Vicki) Treat; his children Melanie (Shawn) Kell, Marcy (Cory) Lawrence, David Treat, Tim Treat; his grandchildren Schuyler (Mallory) Kell, Haley Kell, Reagan Lawrence, Ryler Lawrence, and many friends. Bill’s family is very thankful for the wonderful care he received from the Hospice team of Via Health Partners.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2 pm at McKee Road Baptist Church, 4300 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC 28270 with Pastor Alex Adkins officiating.

Robert Alan Powers

Robert Alan Powers - affectionately known to many as “Ol Rob” - passed away on February 25, 2026 in Matthews, North Carolina, leaving behind an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born March 12, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, to Carmon and Mary Jane, Robert was a true renaissance man—a vibrant spirit whose love for life was felt deeply in every note he sang, every ball he hit, every friendship he cherished.

Growing up as the youngest of four children and the only boy amongst his siblings, (Bernita, Mary Ellen, Jane) Robert’s early days in Detroit were filled with youthful adventures alongside his best friends, the two Petes, with whom he shared countless mischievous shenanigans. His affection for the games of baseball and hockey were nurtured on the streets and in the fields of his Detroit neighborhood. These passions followed him throughout his life, along with his talents in tennis, racquetball, and running. It was some of these pursuits that fueled his boundless energy and relentless drive, traits that earned him the well-deserved moniker of “Work Hard, Play Hard Rob” - A reputation not necessarily reserved for those who knew him best.

Robert’s professional life was intertwined with his love for sports and community. Serving as General Manager of Rolling Hills Country Club in Monroe, North Carolina, and later at Carolina Golf and Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, Robert made a lasting impact on the golfing communities he stewarded before his retirement in 2010.

Even as he managed prestigious clubs he remained a player at heart—a golfer, a baseball and hockey enthusiast, and a committed member of the YMCA in uptown Charlotte - as well as at the International Athletic Club in Denver, Colorado before his southern relocation in 1982.

But Robert’s passions extended far beyond athletics. A man of varied tastes he reveled in the romance of music and theater. Whether it was jazz riffs, live theater, the drama of opera, or simply listening to classical favorites while reading the Sunday paper, Robert’s soul was stirred by art in its many forms. His involvement in musical theater, spirited participation in Christmas choirs, and even his stint in the rock band known as The Golden Overdrive, revealed a man who embraced creativity with open arms. His voice, a treasured gift, carried on to the very end, enchanting those around him with beauty and inspiration despite his humble assertion, “I’ve really lost my voice, I can’t sing at all anymore.”

Robert’s love was vast and warm. Married four times, he was a caring father, if a not somewhat eccentric figure. To his two loving daughters, Debra and Pamela, he was a cherished man, the hard-nosed, exacting task master coupled with a real sweetheart, the self -proclaimed ‘El Patron’.

Robert’s family flourished around him, extending to his grandchildren: Rochelle Renee, Nathan Scott, Nicole Marie and Hannah Blue and adding to the colorful bouquet with the presence of four ebullient great-grandchildren: Logan, Lincoln, Callum, and Emma Catherine.

He had a genuine affection for women— one who appreciated the ‘gentler sex’ for their beauty, common decency, strength, and difference. A lover of life, disarming at times, a man who never shied away from wholeheartedly engaging with every person he met, Robert was – all at once – a man’s man and a charismatic chick magnet.

(Don’t worry about that last comment, he would tell you it was not only funny, but true.)

Though Robert traveled to the Caribbean and Canada only a few short times, and was limited by the demands of his busy life, his spirit was never confined. A lover of adventure and new experiences, he always dreamed of journeying to further distant lands he sadly did not reach in his later years.

Now freed from earthly bounds, one imagines him embracing all those dreams— once again putting his toes in the sand while working a crossword puzzle and drinking in the surf, perhaps golfing celestial fairways, savoring a fine Scotch, puffing a cigar, belting out favorite tunes with the carefree joy that defined him.

He had a plethora of friends here on earth and undoubtedly reunited with countless others who patiently waited for him on the other side, where a joyous celebration is surely already underway.

A golfer, sports enthusiast, game player of many genres, Robert Alan Powers was a man who lived deeply, loved fiercely, and shared his gifts generously with the world.

Go in peace, our Daddy-O!

Fly free like the many birds you adored, where music never fades and the laughter never ends.

Your presence will be forever missed but greatly remembered.

✌🏽❤️😌

Lyric Doi'Yell (Jenkins) Polanco

Lyric was born on January 14, 1996, to Africa Parker and Adrian Jenkins. She spent her formative years in Port Arthur, Texas, where she attended school from Pre-K through middle school. During that time Lyric began her spiritual journey at 9 years old at Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ransom E Howard where she was baptized and served proudly as an Junior Usher and youth Ministry. Even as a child, her servant’s heart and gentle spirit were evident to all who encountered her. She later attended West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas, before graduating in 2014 from Moanalua High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lyric’s passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. At the time of her passing, she was a dedicated nursing student at Sandhills Community College proudly in her third term of the Registered Nursing program. Her commitment to healthcare reflected her lifelong devotion to service, healing, and advocacy. Caring for others was not merely her career path; it was her calling. Lyric was actively involved in organizations devoted to positive change and community upliftment. Her participation in these initiatives was not simply extracurricular involvement — it was a reflection of her character. She believed wholeheartedly in helping others, sharing knowledge, spreading love, and standing firmly for what was right. Service was not something she did; it was who she was. In March 2007, Jay Ryan Nichols lovingly entered her life and embraced the role of father with unwavering devotion and pride. He cherished Lyric beyond measure, offering her unconditional love, guidance, wisdom, and the joyful spoiling only a devoted father can provide. The life lessons he instilled helped shape the confident, compassionate, and principled woman she became. On April 27, 2021, Lyric married the love of her life, Jorge Polanco, in North Carolina. Their union was marked by deep devotion, friendship, and enduring affection. She lovingly called him “Mon Chéri,” a reflection of the tenderness they shared. Together they built a life filled with laughter, perseverance, faith, and profound joy. Their beloved cats, Athena and Sputnik, were treasured members of their family. Lyric and Jorge’s marriage was a beautiful reflection of soulmate love — steadfast, gentle, and true. Lyric leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted husband, Jorge Polanco; her parents, Africa and Jay Nichols; her siblings, Jarian Jenkins, Lori Jenkins Tom (TyShawn), Robbie Wiltz, Adrienne Jenkins, ArDashia Bailey, and Adrian Bailey; her very special niece and goddaughter, Parker S. Nekol Tom; her grandparents, Patsy Benoit Arceneaux and Joseph Parker; her aunts, Shawn Hamilton (Trent) and Kim Keller; her uncles, Auburn Jenkins (Cabrina) and Matthew Nichols (Kelley); and her great-uncle, Mark Washington. Three special cousins (her first playmates) Derani Wiggins, Tarik Pitre and Jared Hamiliton, She also leaves her cherished Godmother, LaDonna Joubert; her Godsister, Kirsten Gordon Reese; her Auntie’s in love, Taronia Gardiner , Nikki Glass, Demetria Williams, Rosettea Acrond, Jessica Brown, Tania Richard, Satia LeDay, Patrice Martin, and Rebecca Kemper — along with a host of relatives, classmates, colleagues, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and grace. A very special acknowledgement to Dr, Jessica Respus (James) Lyric’s mentor. Her wisdom, encouragement, and steady guidance were a meaningful source of strength and inspiration in her life.

Though our hearts ache beyond words, we find comfort in knowing that Lyric’s love remains woven into our lives. Her laughter, wisdom, nurturing spirit, and radiant smile will continue to guide us. She taught us that love is active, that compassion is strength, and that even the gentlest soul can leave the deepest imprint on this world.

Lyric’s life, though far too brief, was profoundly meaningful. She was — and will always remain — our angel.
