This Women’s History Month, we honor the strength, resilience, and leadership of women—past and present—who have shaped the path toward healing and recovery, including our namesake, Betty Ford. Women have long been at the forefront of breaking stigma, advocating for compassionate care, and supporting one another through the challenges of substance use and mental health.
This month—and every month—we remain committed to expanding pathways to recovery that honor women’s experiences and whole-person needs.

Love can change the course of my world.
Caring is all-important.
Problem gambling doesn’t exist in isolation. It impacts families, friends, workplaces, and entire communities. Awareness helps replace misunderstanding with empathy and reminds those experiencing a gambling issue that they are not alone.

HFS and DCFS are holding a listening session on March 5 to hear from youth in care, former youth in care, parents, caregivers, caseworkers, providers and others to help inform the upcoming re-procurement of the Specialty Managed Care Plan for Youth in Care and Former Youth in Care (currently YouthCare). Your feedback will help shape how health care services are delivered to this population in the future (physical, behavioral, dental, etc.).
The re-procurement process is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026, with a Request for Proposals (RFP) expected to be released in late summer. The new DCFS Specialty Managed Care Plan contract is anticipated to begin January 2028.

Illinois Family Resource Center is a statewide project funded for the purpose of ensuring family involvement and input in all aspects of adolescent and young adult care within the Illinois substance use disorder (SUD's) treatment system. Through the enhancement and dissemination of evidence-based SUD's treatment and recovery support services, adolescents, young adults and their families are provided support in their recovery journey at the practice and program level.
To support family involvement that is focused, goal-driven and productive at the policy level, Illinois Family Resource Center seeks family member's feedback that may be shared through collaborative work with the Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery, and the substance use disorder and mental health provider community.
In addition, Illinois Family Resource Center offers this website to provide current research and education to youth, young adults, family members and human service providers regarding issues related to substance use disorders and living a healthy lifestyle. We also offer links to SUD's treatment services throughout Illinois.
