Allied Capital Title of Charleston, Shelbyville, Sullivan, & Tuscola are honored to continue supporting the incredible work being done at Sarah Bush Lincoln in Mattoon, IL. Their commitment to care, research, and providing hope to patients and families is truly inspiring.

This year, our neighboring offices proudly donated at total of $720 to support the fight against breast cancer. While Breast Cancer Awareness Month may have ended, the fight certainly hasn’t. The journey continues far beyond October for many.

Congratulations to Crystal Miller, RN, Hospice, for receiving . Her nomination read:

“I am writing regarding my grandmother’s time residing at Willow Breeze Hospice House. My
grandmother fell and broke her hip, and after speaking with my family, we decided that it was in my grandmother’s best interest to be transferred to Willow Breeze Hospice House. She was still responsive, but in so much pain. The transition went okay I was greeted at the door by a nurse named Crystal. Come to find out, Crystal was an angel in disguise. She greeted me and my tears with open arms. She sympathized with my fear of even walking through the doors. Crystal did an immediate assessment of my grandmother. She explained to me and my family what comfort care meant, and what that meant for my grandmother. She instantly took some of my fear and anxiety away. We spent 5 days at Willow Breeze before my grandmother’s hand was taken by Jesus. Crystal was by our side the whole way through. She not only comforted and cared for my grandmother, but our whole family as well. Crystal deserves to be recognized for her outstanding care she provides at Willow Breeze. She got us through it.

Thank you, Crystal, from the bottom of our hearts. We will forever be grateful for you.

SBL recently hosted two groups of high school students to learn about careers in healthcare. Students from Altamont and Newton visited Physical and Occupational Therapy, Center for Healthy Living, Materials Management, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, Lab and Diagnostic Imaging.

Shannon Trueblood, owner of Trueblood Collective Boutique in Mattoon, has donated $430 to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Regional Cancer Center. This is the seventh year that Shannon has made a donation, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, bringing total gifts to $4,110.

“Each year, Shannon makes these donations from her boutique, and we’re able to use funds to purchase items like Miaderm radiation burn cream,” said Haley Baumgarten, Patient Care Leader in the Regional Cancer Center. “It’s vital that patients use this cream, which isn’t covered by most insurance companies, to avoid burns from the targeted treatment. We’re so appreciative of this donation and her continued support of patients in our community who are battling cancer.”
