Mark your calendar for SBL's annual Night of Lights, 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, November 20. Bring the family out to the Health Center for the annual kick-off of our holiday light displays. After driving through the lights stop in the lobby at the Heart Center at Entrance H for some free hot chocolate and cookies, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and say hello to some of our therapy dogs. The SBL Gift Shop will also be open until 11 pm for all your holiday shopping and more!

This event is FREE and open to all.

In recognition of National Lung Cancer Screening Day, Sarah Bush Lincoln is offering convenient lung cancer screenings, 8 am to noon, Saturday, November 8 at the SBL Bonutti Clinic in Effingham.
➡️➡️ NOTE: Appointments are required! Call 217-238-4490 to be pre-screened and make your appointment. The screening includes a low-dose CT scan and consultation.
Performing the scan before symptoms are present can identify lung cancer early, when it is easier to treat and more likely to be cured. The scan might also show other conditions or diseases (such as early-stage heart disease or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) that need to be treated.

Medicare and most insurance carriers cover annual screenings for those eligible.

Ready for some of the cutest newborns sporting the fall edition of the SBL onesie collection?

Henry Flood was born September 3 to Tom and Haley Flood. “Words cannot express how grateful we are for all the incredible nurses who cared for us during our delivery and stay at Sarah Bush Lincoln. Every one of them was supportive, kind and attentive, not just during labor, but even after, when our little one spent some time in the nursery. We’re especially grateful to Dr. Meyer, who made sure everything went smoothly and that our son, Henry, arrived safely. Bringing our first child into the world was an unforgettable experience and we couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide us through it. Thank you all for making it so special.” – Haley

Bennie James Schmidt was born on September 18. His mom Audrey is an RN on the Women and Children’s Unit at SBL “Thank you to all my work family for one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I want to thank Dr. Meyer, Cassie Green, Jessica, Dr. Varma, Hope, Maddi, Kara, Raye, Ashley, Dr. Amy and Cassie K. Also, thanks to Bennie's nightshift nurse aunties for holding onto him for a couple of hours so we could get some sleep in... it's amazing what an uninterrupted two hour nap does for you.” -Audrey

Cooper Hudson Lund arrived on October 7 and joins big brother Hunter and parents
Levi and Caitlynn Lund.

Branson Nathaniel Swofford was born on October 9 to proud parents Ashland and Dylan Swofford. Ashland would like thank Dr. Ballinger and all the nurses for a safe delivery.

Twelve local artists were recognized as winners of the annual Effingham Art Guil art contest. Their work is showcased at the SBL Bonutti Clinic.

“The Effingham Art Guild continues to amaze us with the range of creativity and expression on display,” SBL Orthopedic Surgeon Peter Bonutti, MD, said. “Each piece hanging in this clinic tells a story, and together, they reflect the spirit of our community.”

“This clinic has a long tradition of supporting the Effingham Art Guild,” SBL President and CEO Kim Uphoff said. “The partnership between the Art Guild and the Bonutti Clinic continues to remind us that art plays an essential role in the well-being of both patients and caregivers alike.”

Dr. Bonutti and his brother, Boris, established the partnership with the Effingham Art Guild more than two decades ago. This year marks the 24th time the clinic has hosted the art reception.
