Congratulations to Emily Livingston, RN, Hospice, for receiving .
Her nomination read: “I would like to nominate Emily for the Daisy Award in recognition of the extraordinary care she provided to my great aunt during her time on hospice this past year. From the very beginning, Emily went above and beyond to ensure my aunt felt comfortable and supported. My aunt did not fully realize the seriousness of her condition, yet Emily approached every interaction with patience, kindness and respect. She consistently made my aunt feel at ease, even in moments of uncertainty. In the final days of my aunt’s life, Emily demonstrated remarkable grace and professionalism. My aunt struggled with her legs and preferred to remain in her chair, but Emily gently and compassionately helped her understand the importance of transitioning to a bed. Despite my aunt’s anxiety about change, Emily navigated the situation with sensitivity, ensuring the transition was smooth and dignified. On my aunt’s last day, Emily made it her priority to provide comfort and peace. She explained each step of care in a way that our family could understand, guiding us through a very difficult time with clarity and compassion. Her commitment extended not only to my aunt’s well-being but also to supporting our family as we faced the reality of her passing. We are deeply grateful for Emily’s dedication, empathy and professionalism. She exemplifies the qualities of a DAISY Nurse providing extraordinary care that touches the lives of patients and families in profound ways.
