A Prayer for the Night
Good night, red, white, and blue.
May this land rest its weary heart.
As we sleep,
may we remember a time
before names divided us,
before beliefs became weapons.
May we dream of peace…
not as an idea,
but as a feeling we recognize
in our bones.
May we dream of days
when disagreement did not mean harm,
when voices rose to listen,
not to wound.
May tomorrow be shaped
by singing instead of shouting,
by hands reaching
instead of fists clenched.
May whatever we call the sacred—
God, Creator, Spirit, Love,
Truth, the Light within
smile upon us
and guide us gently.
May we wake remembering
that unity is stronger than fear,
and compassion louder than hate.
Oh red, white, and blue,
teach your people
how to see again—
what is right,
what is good,
what is human.
For hatred is a poison
we drink ourselves,
and love is the only cure
that has ever saved us.
Amen.
Ameen.
Shalom.
Salaam.
Om Shanti.
So it is.
And so we live it.
