Donnie Eugene “Don” Kelley, 60, of McAlester, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, in Tulsa.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, at Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by Dr. Randy Adams. Service and cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.

Don was born May 31, 1965, in Tulsa to Thomas William and Wilma Jean (Carr) Kelley. He was raised in Louisiana and Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School in 1983. Following high school, Don served his country in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, he spent time as an owner-operator truck driver before continuing his education and earning an associate degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Don worked as a lineman for Western Farmers Electric, where his career took him to Chickasha, Binger, and McAlester. In recent years, he worked for Big V Feeds as a truck driver. Never one to sit still, Don also enjoyed cattle ranching and remodeling homes, always keeping his hands busy and his mind engaged.

Don had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in camping, fishing, and taking in live music at concerts. He was a natural builder and fixer, someone who could make or mend just about anything. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he loved.

On December 21, 2019, Don married Kerry Beal, in Branson, Missouri. Together, they shared many adventures, whether traveling, exploring, or simply enjoying the open road. Don especially loved riding his Harley-Davidson alongside Kerry. He was a proud member of the Eternal Few Motorcycle Club.

Don was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Maudie Kelley; maternal grandparents, Franklin and Rosie Carr; cousin, David Vaughan; mother-in-law, Anna Mae Beal; and brother-in-law, Richard Magby.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kerry Kelley of the home; son, Justin Kelley and wife Serena; daughters, Emily Stopp, Cheyenne “Mo” Selman, and Kaya Selman; five grandchildren, Sophia Kelley, Audrina Stopp, Boston Stopp, Charlotte Stopp, and soon-to-be-born Waylon Selman; his parents, Tom and Wilma Kelley; sister, Sherrie Kelley; father-in-law, Nickey Beal; sisters-in-law, Kim Magby and Lisa Price and husband Roger; brother-in-law, Rickey Beal and wife Linda; his neighbor and dear friend, Mae Humbles; along with numerous extended family members and many friends.

Don will be remembered for his strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with his family, friends and especially his wife, Kerry. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Kadan Allen Lee Vermillion, precious infant son of Meghann Vermillion, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Oklahoma City at just 16 days old.

Though his time on earth was brief, Kadan was deeply loved and brought immeasurable joy to his family. His tiny life left a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew and cherished him.

Kadan was welcomed into Heaven by his great-grandparents, Robert and Jan Day; Billie Scott; Mary (South) Vermillion-Gill; and Walter J. Vermillion; his infant sister, Tinleigh Vermillion; and his great-aunts, Caryn Vermillion, Janette Ballman, and Linda Vermillion.

He leaves behind a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts: his loving mother, Meghann Vermillion; his brother, Asher Price; his sister, Oakleigh Vermillion; his maternal grandparents, Gary Vermillion and Stephanie Scott; his uncle, Daniel Vermillion; his aunt, Jayna Vermillion and her husband, Brian McDonald; his great-uncle, John Vermillion; his great-aunts, Shera Scott and Tonya Day; his cousins, Heavenleigh Vermillion, Novaleigh McDonald, Ayla McDonald, and Zayne McDonald; along with many other extended family members who loved him dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2026, at Sulphur Cemetery near Hartshorne, officiated by Justine McGuire. Burial will follow.

Honorary pallbearers will be Asher Price, Gary Vermillion, John Vermillion, Daniel Vermillion, and Brian McDonald.

Though he was only with us for a short time, Kadan’s life was a gift, and he will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Sharon Kay Ferris, 76, of Mannford, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Sharon’s Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 415 E First St, Luther, Oklahoma. Family and friends are warmly invited to stay and share in a fellowship meal immediately following the service.

Sharon was born on April 11, 1949, in Edmond, Oklahoma, to William and Janie (Davis) Ferris. She was raised in Luther, Oklahoma, and graduated from Luther High School, Class of 1967, where she proudly played basketball for the Lady Lions.

Sharon was a woman of many talents and a strong work ethic. Early in life, she earned her cosmetology license and opened a small beauty business in downtown Luther, where she provided haircuts, perms, color, and care to many in the community. Later, she pursued a career in insurance, earning her license in both personal and commercial lines. She worked for many years at Acton Inc., where she remained until her retirement. Even after retiring, Sharon enjoyed staying active and later worked at JCPenney, where she especially loved being able to share her employee discounts with her children and grandchildren.

Sharon had a deep love for ballroom dancing and found great joy in learning new steps and helping with ballroom activities. She also loved gardening and found peace in planting vegetables and flowers. More than anything, Sharon cherished her family. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took great pride in watching them grow and participate in the many activities and sports they loved.

Sharon will be remembered for her kind heart, loving spirit, and the warmth she shared so freely with others. She had a way of making people feel welcome, cared for, and loved, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Janie Ferris, and her siblings, Johnny Ferris, Effie Mullin, Margaretta Pickle, and Bobby Ferris.

Sharon is survived by her longtime companion, Stewart McMinnimy; her daughter, Candace Tucker and husband Robert Tucker of Edmond; her daughter, Chay Snapp and husband Jeff Snapp of Mannford, Oklahoma; her sons, Joe Ramos and wife Jessica of Oklahoma City, and Al Ramos of Oklahoma City; her grandchildren, Dallas, Rylee (Devon), Bobby, Austin (Kacie), Jaedyn (Sarah), Re*****on (Liz), Ashley, and Emily (Travis) and Blake (Darien); her great-grandchildren, Jack; August and Blakeley; Jonas and Felix, Veronica, Blakelee and Elijah; her sister, Debbie Wasson of Oklahoma City; as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews, family members and dear friends.

Sharon’s legacy of love, kindness, strength, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all those who were blessed to know and love her.

Elizabeth “Betty” Bishop, age 87, of Quinton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the Gowen Community Center, 9236 S.W. Gowen Road, Gowen, OK 74546. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the Invocation to follow at 10:00 a.m. A reception will be held immediately following the service.

She was born on December 20, 1938, in Tina, Missouri, and lived a full life marked by independence and creativity.

Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her strong resilient spirit, kind heart, and her love of crafting. She found joy in creating with her hands and sharing that creativity with others.
She was the proud mother of six children: Marie (Bill) Brown, James Brewer, Dan (Robyn) Brewer, Diana Sue Richardson, Karla Beler, and Kim (David) Boyles.

She is survived by five siblings: Patricia Kunkler, Donald Warren, Linda Estabrook, Marilyn Whiteside and Roger Warren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Bishop; her parents, Martha Marie (Campbell) Warren and James Warren; her brother, Frank Warren; and her great-granddaughter, Tenley Jane Lohman.

Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on in their hearts.

Nettie Florence (Evans) Tipps, 94, of McAlester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by Mr. Red Coleman. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Howard, Brett Cable, Devon Chen, and Joe Nickel.

Florence was born on October 30, 1931, in Ravia, Oklahoma, one of twelve children born to William Henry and Erma Lucretia (Moore) Evans. She was raised in Ravia, where she graduated from Ravia High School, and later attended Murray State College in Tishomingo.

On November 25, 1949, Florence married the love of her life, Charles Herman Tipps, in Gainesville, Texas. They shared over 63 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Together, they built a life across several communities, living in Tishomingo, Comanche, Duncan, and Odessa, Texas, before returning to Oklahoma, where they lived in Ada and eventually settled in McAlester.

Florence was a dedicated partner in both life and business, working alongside Charles in their flooring store. In the 1980’s, she fulfilled her entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating her own carpet and furniture store in McAlester for several years before retiring.

She was a longtime and faithful member of the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ.

Florence found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved sewing and quilting, creating pieces that will be cherished by her family for years to come. She also enjoyed fishing and treasured the time spent on occasional golf outings with her husband, Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Evans and Erma Lucretia Evans Coffman; her beloved husband, Charles Herman Tipps; her brothers, Jay Evans, John Evans, Everett Evans, W.T. “Pete” Evans, Luke Evans, and Arthur Evans; and her sister, Jean Tipps.

Florence is lovingly remembered by her son, Charley Ray Tipps and wife Ruth; her daughter, Jeneice Cable and husband Lowell “Buddy” Cable, Jr.; her grandchildren, Brett Cable and wife Amy, Amy Howard and husband Tracy, Rebecca Brackett and husband Seth, Kendra Tipps, Devon Chen, and Jia Sing Chen; and her great-grandchildren, Madeleine Cable, Cecily Cable, Callum Cable, Joseph Nickel, Jayce Howard, Seth Tipps, Shawn Tipps, Joy Tipps, Nathan Tipps, Johnathan Tipps, and Suzanne Florence Tipps. Great-great grandchildren, Spencer Nickel and Carter Joe Nickel.

She is also survived by her sisters, Belle Perteet, Sue James and husband Randy; her brothers, Coy Evans and wife, Brenda, Paul Evans and wife Jackie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Florence will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her devotion to her family, and the quiet kindness she shared with everyone who knew her.

Patricia Elizabeth (Ritsema) Haley, 86, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Krebs, Oklahoma.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family.

Patricia was born on August 22, 1939, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to William Ritsema and Geraldine (Horton) Ritsema. She was raised and educated in Kalamazoo, where she graduated from high school.

Patricia was united in marriage to Charles K. Haley, sharing years of love and companionship. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working in Adult Foster Care through the Veterans Affairs system in Michigan. Her compassion and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many. After retiring in 2003, she moved to McAlester, Oklahoma, to be closer to her family.

Patricia found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in her plants and flowers. She cherished her animals, especially her dogs, and found happiness in their companionship. Patricia also enjoyed visiting thrift stores and expressing her creativity through crafts and painting.

Above all, Patricia treasured the time she spent with her family. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Robin Slotta of McAlester, and Michelle Sprow and husband, Barry, of Waverly Kansas; grandchildren, Chris Slotta, Brad Slotta, Meghan Haskins, Cody Haskins and wife, Amanda, Tori Burke and husband, J.J., and Kenny Haskins; twelve great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Alice Haley of Michigan; along with other beloved family members and friends, including those from the VFW community.

She will be deeply loved and greatly missed.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Haley, in 1997; her son, Jeffrey Terrance Haley; and her parents, William Ritsema and Geraldine (Horton) Ritsema.

Reba Joyce (Harman) Pearson, 90, of McAlester, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Greenwood, Arkansas.

Viewing will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by Rev. Heather Beard. Cremation will follow.

Joyce was born on January 21, 1936, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Ethel (Courtney) Harman. She was raised in Hagerman, New Mexico.

She married Guy Pearson on October 5, 1952, in Roswell, New Mexico. They shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.

Joyce was a hardworking woman who held various positions throughout her life. She worked at Ideal Food Store in Pampa, Texas, as a seamstress for Elsings, and served as a shop steward for Humpty-Dumpty Grocery Store in McAlester. She also worked for a time with Norma Stokes at her dress shop in McAlester.

Known for her kind and gentle spirit, Joyce deeply loved her family and friends. She was an excellent cook, and no one ever left her home hungry. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and was known for feeding the neighborhood cats.
In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed sewing and visiting casinos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ethel Harman; her husband, Guy Pearson; her grandson, Jared Pearson; and eleven siblings.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Mike Pearson and wife Teresa of McAlester, and Larry Pearson and wife Misty of Greenwood, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Heather Beard and husband Chris, Audra Klink and husband Jeremy, Megan Pearson, Jeff Pearson and wife Ashley, Chelsie Onderdonck and fiancé Lance Parent, and Cassidy McCurdy; her great-grandchildren, Alexia Pearson, Katelyn Pearson, Corwyn Beard, Maryn Beard, Allasyn Beard, Ella Klink, Logan Onderdonck, Lillyanna Parent, Devyn Veal and partner Melody Oswald, Dylan Veal, Brendle McCurdy, Addy Pearson, and Easton Pearson; her great-great-grandchild, Annabelle Oswald; her brother, Charles Harman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
