world & can change your life. Anyone can do it; it is scientifically proven, easy to learn and a lot of fun.

***What is Laughter Yoga***
Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine developed by Indian physician Dr. Madan Kataria and supported by his wife Madhuri. It combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing (Pranayama) which brings in more oxygen to the body and brain making one feel more energetic and healthy. Anyone can laugh without relying on humor, jokes and comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group but with eye contact and childlike playfulness it turns into real and contagious laughter. It is based on the scientific fact that the body cannot tell the difference between fake and real laughter and one gets the same health benefits. Laughter Yoga has been widely covered by media which includes prestigious publications like TIME magazine, BBC, CNN and the Oprah Winfrey show.

***Why Laughter Yoga***
Everyone knows laughter is the best medicine and is good for health. But, in this high-pressure, high tension modern world there are not many reasons which make us laugh. In order to get the scientifically proven benefits of laughter, one must laugh for 15 to 20 minutes a day and laughter should be hearty and loud. This is not possible in real life as natural laughter is conditional and comes for few seconds here and there and is not enough to bring health benefits. Through Laughter Yoga one can laugh for an extended period of time and heartily because it is a physical exercise and not a mental process.

***¿Qué es el Yoga de la Risa ***
Yoga de la Risa es una rutina de ejercicio único desarrollado por el médico Dr. Madan Kataria de la India y apoyado por su esposa Madhuri. Combina ejercicios de la risa con la respiración de yoga (pranayama), que aporta más oxígeno al cuerpo y el cerebro haciendo que uno se sienta con más energía y saludable. Cualquier persona puede reír sin depender de humor, chistes y comedia. La risa es simulada como un ejercicio de cuerpo en grupo, pero con el contacto visual y el juego infantil se convierte en risa real y contagiosa. Se basa en el hecho científico de que el cuerpo no puede decir la diferencia entre la risa falsa y real y se obtiene los mismos beneficios de salud. Todos saben que la risa es la mejor medicina y es bueno para la salud. Pero, en la actualidad de muchas presiónes y el mundo moderno con muchas tensiónes, no hay muchas razones que nos hacen reír. Con el fin de obtener los beneficios científicamente comprobados de la risa, hay que reírse de 15 a 20 minutos al día y la risa debe ser abundante y ruidosa. Esto no es posible en la vida real como la risa natural es condicional y viene por unos segundos aquí y allá y no es suficiente para lograr beneficios para la salud. It's okay not to be okay all the time. After difficult times, strength emerges, laughter becomes more genuine, and life feels more free. Give yourself permission to feel, heal, and move forward.

☀️So grateful for the experience of the 32nd Annual SPI Counselors Institute 🌴✨

I had the honor of serving as an Officer (Secretary) with the Rio Grande Valley Counseling Association and helping organize this impactful event. My practice, MLR Therapy & Consulting Services, PLLC was proud to support the conference with door prizes for attendees.

I also had the opportunity to present two fully attended sessions, connect with fellow clinicians, and network with professionals across our region. It was wonderful to have Ruth, a therapist with MLR Therapy, attend the conference, enjoy days of learning, and even win an amazing door prize 🎉🙌
