History

El Milagro Clinic was chartered by the State of Texas as a 501©3 in 1996.For over 17 years, El Milagro Clinic, currently located in the center of McAllen’s medical district has provided access to comprehensive primary health services and some specialized care.

El Milagro Clinic provides comprehensive primary, disease prevention and behavioral health care services to Rio Grande Valley residents who are medically indigent. Recognizing the need for access to health care, community activists, city and county elected public officials, and the local medical community worked to establish a health clinic.

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Community Health Management Corporation, Inc. started El Milagro Clinic that chartered by the State of Texas as a 501©3 in 1996.Chartered as a non-profit organization in 1996 and first opened its doors on December 12th, 1996. El Milagro Clinic has served the health care needs of those most vulnerable members of our community. Transitioning from its modest beginnings in downtown McAllen, the clinic now sees patients from its current location at 901 E. Vermont in McAllen.

Now occupying a spacious 25,0000-square-foot facility in south McAllen’s medical district, approximately 125 patients are served on a daily basis. El Milagro Clinic is funded by a variety of sources, among which are: Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas Inc., the City of McAllen, the State of Texas, the County of Hidalgo, Precinct 2 & Precinct 4, as well as several private foundations. Program generated income also accounts for a portion of the Clinic’s budget.
