MindWorks Rehabilitation Center

MindWorks Rehabilitation Center Focusing on children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder since 2006, providing both speech and occupational therapy services.

"We love to see our patients smile. We love to see the “ah ha” moments that tell us that we have made a connection. Lovingly known as “DawNessa”, we created a warm and inviting facility to reflect our personalities and love for the children. Since 2000, we have filled our professional careers with moments that we have shared with the families whose lives have touched us. We have seen our patients

grow and reach milestones when others said it couldn’t be done. We have had many of our patients for years, and their success has become a part of what makes our practice so special. Our practice is not a business, it is an environment made richer by the children in it. We take our patients very seriously, but we make our approach fun and educational which benefits both parent and child. We know progress, but we measure it according to who your child is and not by set standards of where he/she should be. Helping children with autism is our passion, and we would like to share it with you."

What an incredible day! We are still smiling after a wonderful day at the Team Mario Autism Walk 2026.

It was truly a privilege for MindWorks Rehabilitation Center to return as a sponsor this year. The energy was electric, and seeing the sheer number of participants and families coming together to support the autism community was deeply moving.

The highlight of our day was definitely the visitors at our booth. We loved getting the chance to catch up with so many of our current and former patients. While we didn't manage to snag a photo with everyone who stopped by, please know how much we enjoyed every conversation and update. Seeing our kids thriving and out in the community is exactly why we do what we do!

Thank you to Team Mario for hosting such a vital event, and thank you to everyone who took the time to say hello. We are already looking forward to next year!

PLAYTIME!!
Not just an enjoyable activity for kids but an essential part of their development. Engaging in play significantly enhances attention spans, vocabulary and helps with concentrating on tasks and engaging in dialogues.Throughout play, children mimic real-life scenarios using everyday items like using a hair dryer and comb or feeding the animals on a farm. This not only fosters creativity but also enhances their problem-solving skills. Whether it’s setting up a hair salon or playing make-believe with a set of toy animals and foods, these scenarios provide opportunities for children to practice listening and executing tasks, which are critical skills for academic success and everyday life.
Play is a multifaceted tool that fosters attention, vocabulary, and essential social skills. By encouraging children to engage in these playful activities, we support their overall development, ensuring they learn while they have fun. So the next time you see children playing, remember that they are not just having fun; they are also laying the groundwork for lifelong learning!!

Showing our support for our patient, Robert. Shout out to his mama, Eileen Rodriguez, for the shirts.

Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week is observed annually from February 7–14, falling within the broader American Heart Month in February. It focuses on honoring children and adults living with CHDs, promoting early detection, and advocating for lifelong care. This initiative highlights that 1 in 100 babies are born with CHD, making it the most common birth defect.
