I realized I forgot to share my peach harvest last year! It is Winter time so I needed something to brighten my day. We have a tiny dwarf donut peach tree and last year was the first harvest. We ended up with a lot of peaches for such a tiny tree! As required, we pulled off probably 80+ little peaches to leave room for a larger, sweeter, and juicier peach harvest. This practice did not disappoint, it left us with white flesh super sweet and delicious peaches! If you only have a small space to grow fruit, I recommend the dwarf donut peach tree 🍑 🍃

I found this group of Asters in a small mountain garden. The flower essence is for many things, but today, being Thanksgiving, I will point out just one. Purple Aster brings the feeling of unity and community! Hopefully this Thanksgiving we all remember that we are united as humankind, and all experience ups and downs. With that, we can hold a deep understanding that we are all human, and could be a little more grateful for the connections we have in our lives. Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃

This is a beautiful and unique clematis from a small garden in the mountains. The bright color stands out and seems unreal. Funny enough, the flower essence is for bringing us back to reality when we have a tendency to daydream. Sometimes dissociating or living in our minds is easier than facing daily circumstances. Clematis helps us have interest in the world around us and put our focus there.

A perfect pink Rose of Sharon at dusk. The flower essence is for sensitive people with heavy burdens, and is meant to bring a light feeling like floating on water. This is a hibiscus plant, which is in the Malvaceae or mallow plant family. The flowers are high in vitamin C, and can lower blood pressure. The whole plant is of use, and beautiful to behold! 🌺 🌺

Smoketree Cotinus coggygria is an ornamental plant with many powerful medicinal properties. I just started noticing this plant growing in front yards, gardens, even on the sides of the road. I decided to investigate and found it was called Smoketree and learned it has antimicrobial and hepatoprotective (liver protective) properties. I love learning about new plants in my environment because anywhere you go, there’s something that grows and is medicinal!

Blackberries are full of nutrients like vitamin C, K, fiber and loads of antioxidants! The flower essence helps us put our great ideas into actions… which makes me think it must be an especially motivating remedy. The leaves and root bark have astringent actions which help control excess fluids and support the kidneys. Similarly to raspberry leaf, the leaf tea is supportive to the kidneys with mineral support and has toning actions due to the astringency. The tradition is to climb under a bramble bush for luck in preventing blackheads and boils… there has to be a little folklore magic for every plant! 🍃🍃🍃

Acorns are the fruit of the large variety of oak trees. Many oak trees contain medicinal compounds including the ability to constrict tissue with astringency. Astringent herbs help reduce fluid discharge and stop bleeding. Acorns are edible and a good source of minerals, but due to the abundance of tannins, they must be properly prepared and leached first or they are considered poisonous and disruptive to the GI tract. As a kid I remember using the little top of the acorn as a hat for little characters I made when visiting the forest. 🌰🌲

Help me with cherries recipes please! Our cherry tree had a pretty substantial harvest this year because it has grown to several years old. We only have the one Stella cherry variety that makes big dark red fruit. This variety is self pollinating and I’m grateful because it is enough work as it is keeping one fruit tree alive and producing.. I never knew how much work went into it! But it’s worth it if you love fruit! 🍒 🍒

Ginkgo biloba has these unique shaped beautiful green leaves. I have the luxury of seeing it when I visit the Japanese gardens next to my office at the college. The leaves are known to increase blood flow and circulation which not only helps memory but also allows blood to do its job by carrying nutrients and oxygen all through the circulatory system. When our blood is stagnant, we might feel sluggish and have brain fog. Ginkgo has an intelligence to dilate veins and help eliminate platelet aggregation.. all wonderful things for those who are sluggish. In fact, a good way to know if your blood isn’t flowing is to see how long it takes for a nurse to get blood samples from you! Tea or tincture are good ways to ingest this plant. Because of its strength in circulatory properties, it is not often given to children.. but more often to people who would like some anti aging support. I found it interesting to learn that like onions and apples, the leaves also contain quercetin which is a phytochemical used for its anti inflammatory properties, and also great as an anti histamine support. No wonder these trees have stood the test of time, and grace us with their beautiful presence across the globe! 🍃

The peonies are budding and blooming. Im so grateful for the ladybugs that help keep pests away. The name “peony” comes from Paeon, a student of the god Asclepius, who was known for his healing abilities. I think peonies are very healing. I keep white peony in my apothecary to use for nourishing blood, menstrual health, and calming the liver. It has so many wonderful healing attributes. 🌸🌸🌸

I lived my whole life not really understanding how amazing Wisteria is… it can take decades to bloom, can climb to over 60 ft high, and creates beautiful tunnels with cascading blossoms. I remember my first experience with it in person was about 4 years ago in a small old town called Pondosa, Oregon; known as the geographic center of the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii). There was this massive Wisteria but with yellow blossoms, and once I realized what plant it was, I knew it had to bring something great out in me. I have since learned that it is an especially feminine flower essence, helping us reach deeply into the female mind and bring harmony for those things about being feminine that might get out of balance. Sometimes we think being too feminine can mean we are too weak or emotional, but Wisteria brings out the truth. That with harmony and balance emotions, gentleness, and nurturing and many other amazing feminine qualities are extreme strengths that many aspire to obtain. 💕🪻
