We are so looking forward to our special Thanksgiving Eve class next week and are hard at work preparing to make this evening special for you 💖
One way we plan to do that is by offering gentle hands on assists 🤝
We don’t typically categorize ourselves as a hands on assists studio for a couple reasons…
First, our bread and butter classes are vinyasa. These classes typically involve flowing movements and quite literally dancing around your mat 💃
We don’t believe there’s much wiggle room to safely observe our students and physically adjust them in a standard sixty minute class when we are moving at this pace 🏃♀️
Second, we often find that observing our students and offering verbal cues can be equally if not more effective than physically assisting students ourselves ✋
Relatedly, we believe when instructors force alignment, especially when it is aesthetically focused, we can do a disservice to our students. These kinds of assists give students fewer opportunities to be present in their own bodies, feel out the poses and movements for themselves, and improve their proprioception 🤸♀️
We want you to trust yourself and explore what it means to move your body and make your practice your own! 🧘♀️
That said, the adjustments we WILL be offering in this class are extremely gentle. They are not meant to fix or change. The intention behind these assists will be to help you more fully relax and settle into the postures 😌
In keeping with our priority to best support you, will be passing out our new beautiful consent chips created by the lovely .jones21 of ✨
This is active consent! You maintain the choice, at any point in your practice, to set boundaries and change your mind about whether or not you’ll be accepting assists from our instructors 🚦
We can’t wait to share this special offering with you. See you so soon, friends 💌
