Thank you to the Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation for the grant they awarded to the McGregor Public Library’s new Outdoor Event & Program Area (Furniture and Shelter). The library's project is for creating a welcoming, accessible place for programs for people of all ages, community gatherings, and daily use, complete with shade and shelter from the weather. (We plan to add outdoor furniture and shelter/gazebo by this summer. The process is in the works!)

Beautiful flowers from Hilary Davis decorating our circ desk at the McGregor Public Library (thanks Hilary!) along with memo about some upcoming special events in November: a program inspired by Scottish "glow nights" and ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee, ours will incorporate storytelling) and the annual Books & Baskets fundraiser!

Information for people who borrow books at McGregor Public Library:

Baker & Taylor, the main supplier for many U.S. libraries, is closing.
Since McGregor Public Library orders through Baker & Taylor, some book orders and new releases will be delayed as we switch to new suppliers.

We appreciate your patience as we work to get things back on track as quickly as possible.

Gary Peterson just brought the library two beautifully handcrafted oak mantel clocks for the McGregor Public Library’s upcoming Books & Baskets Silent Auction.

I’m especially intrigued by the first clock. Gary calls it a “Gary Peterson Design.” It reminds me of Prairie style or Arts & Craft style. Both clocks are made of oak. (see 2nd clock in first comment of this post)

The McGregor Library is very fortunate for all of Gary’s donations of mantel clocks and other woodcrafted pieces over the years.

If you’d like to start bidding early on these clocks, let me know. I’ll get a bid sheet started for them! It is also great to see them in person.

The McGregor public library book sale is ready for the first day - Saturday, October 4th, 10am-3pm thanks to awesome volunteers - my dad, Richard Pettit, Joan Burns, Dan Cooley from City of McGregor, and children's librarian Luana Stiemke - for setting up the tent, and volunteers Sheila Oberreuter and Tahra Ferguson for book set up. THANK YOU! Stop in and find some treasures at great prices. This year's book sale proceeds will go toward matching funds for Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation grant for shelter and furniture for library's outdoor program space

The McGregor Public Library is still accepting donations for our 19th Annual Fall Book Sale!

We’ve already received many wonderful books! Thank you to everyone who has donated books! But there’s still time to clear your shelves and donate for a great cause.

All proceeds will support the Library’s Back Patio Project, helping us create a welcoming outdoor event & program space with new furniture and a shelter.

The 19th annual McGregor Public library fall book sale is coming! The first two weekends in October - Saturday and Sunday 10am-3pm - 334 Main Street, Mcgregor.

We have hundreds of books - priced from 25 cents for small paperbacks to $1.00 for hardcovers. There are also magazines and record albums. Thank you to all who make book donations all year. You can still donate any time we're open.

This is Nugget from years ago when he was our neighbor and served as book sale greeter
