Great River Care Center was built in 1972 by John R and Zelda Z Grubb who saw the need for such a facility in the McGregor area. Grubb contacted Health Care of Iowa to professionally manage Great River Care Center. On November 1, 2021, Great River Care Center was purchased by Edgewood Convalesc

ent Home and continues to be professionally managed by Health Care of Iowa. Great River Care Center is a 39-bed, 24-hour skilled nursing facility. We offer both private and semi-private accommodations. Each resident room is furnished with a bed, bedside dresser and closet. We encourage all residents who reside here to personalize their rooms with pictures, mementos and other items to make for a homey atmosphere. In other words, we want our residents to feel at home and their visitors to feel comfortable. In 2006, Turner Pointe Assisted Living, associated with Great River Care Center, opened their beautiful 9 apartment facility. Turner Pointe Assisted Living is one of few Assisted Living Communities that has a nurse on site 24 hours per day / 7 days per week, which allows for the highest level of care to be provided in your home setting, including in-house physician visits and lab services. This allows us to assist you in maintaining your independence for a much longer time and remain in your private assisted living apartment. If the time comes that more care is needed than can be provided in our Assisted Living Community, Great River Care Center can be the next step in our continuum of care. Our comprehensive care facility houses two distinct services: Rehabilitation and traditional Long Term Care. This state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility has achieved a five-star rating by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid – compare for yourself at www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare As a tenant of Turner Pointe, your acceptance in Great River Care Center is guaranteed giving you the peace of mind that whatever your level of care need may be... We have it all!! Turner Pointe Assisted Living features 9 one bedroom apartments, each offering the safety and security of a 24-hour support facility and access to care. Day or night, help is only a phone call away. However, privacy and independence are encouraged. Elders and families alike can have peace of mind knowing every room is linked to an emergency call system. Our conscientious, caring staff is always here to lend a helping hand. Transportation is provided for our residents of both Great River Care Center and Turner Pointe Assisted Living. Our residents are treated to field trips, shopping excursions and even river cruises!

We extend our sincerest gratitude to all who donated to our Easter Egg Hunt event held on Saturday. Our heartfelt thanks go to St.Croix Hospice, Care initiatives, Nading Family, Barb Collins, Jennifer Ryan, Sandy Weller, Emily, The Sly McGill Ice Fishery committee, Pizza Ranch, Dunk-in Donuts, Pizza Hut. Special recognition to Tiffany and Weller for the memorable goat visit, which was a resounding success, and to the Easter Bunny for making a special appearance. We also appreciate the residents who assisted in filling eggs for the event.
