To our faithful customers from the Ayres Drug Store Family❤️,
Chuck Traeger, has finally decided to RETIRE. After working and owning Ayres Drug Store since 1960, this was a very difficult decision. Chuck is a life long resident of McKeesport. He was born in 1933 and graduated from Duquesne University as a pharmacist in 1955. Since then, he has dedicated his life to the City of McKeesport and to making Ayres Drug Store his home.
This summer, he made the very difficult decision not to renew his pharmacy license at the end of the month, as it is sadly not profitable to do so. Financially, medication costs and insurance companies are literally killing the independent stores. The Pharmacy Board gave permission for us to close, as of Friday, August 15. That will be the last day that Ayres will fill prescriptions, so please stop by this week if you need any medications filled. We will continue to assist you with your over the counter needs until the end of August.
Fortunately, Hayden's Pharmacy has agreed to transfer all patient files to their stores. If you would like to continue with this independent pharmacy, Ed and his staff will work with you to continue receiving your medications. His pharmacy will accept most insurances and will mail your prescriptions to your home. If you choose to select another pharmacy, they will transfer your records. Please call 412-672-3000 or 1-888-429-3367 to speak with pharmacy staff to discuss the procedure and to answer any questions you may have.
Chuck has so many wonderful memories of his time as a pharmacist. Please stop by the store to write a note in our memory book or leave a post here. We want him to feel celebrated for all of his accomplishments and life long dedication to all of our loyal and loved customers, because he IS Ayres Drug Store.
Thank you for your patronage all these years ❤️
