A team of residents came together for a pre Super Bowl tailgate party. We played a very different and fun left right game with a passed football and then a football pass game where they had to make a touchdown by passing a football into a wide receiving container. All gave it a great effort but only 3 scored and Lonelle McMillin was our MVP scoring twice. Then everyone signed a square on a football board and our lucky winner will receive a Super Super Bowl Basket of goodies. I’ll let you know who wins.

On national polka dot day the ladies picked their favorite color fabric and we made rain garden scented sachets to put in our linen cabinets for a fresh aroma for our towels and sheets.

When the Groundhog sees his shadow and predicts 6 more weeks of Winter you get a fire going and make some s’mores. Ooey, gooey roasted marshmallows sandwiched between chocolate covered shortbread cookies, YUM!

It’s a joke among the people closest to me that i am the Ringleader of the Circus that I call my life. People in my profession know that just means im an Activity Director. This week is Professional Activity Directors week and in celebration of this I'd like to express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributes to Lakesides program. First and foremost, our exceptional Director Cris Stafford, who embodies unwavering support, consistently shows up with enthusiasm, lends a helping hand, ensures my needs are met, and dazzles in themed costumes when required, IYKYK. The staff rallies behind every idea, going above and beyond to bring joy to our residents, even when it requires extra effort from their department. The residents' families pour their hearts into celebrating with their loved ones, many generously donating to make special events unforgettable. My residents are the heartbeat of our program, faithfully participating with enthusiasm and devotion, inspiring me every day. I'm blessed to work with them and love them all very much. I am grateful for vendors and volunteers whose dedication makes all the difference. To my family and friends who've supported me throughout the years your tireless assistance, talents, and patience have been invaluable. This week reminds me that creating a successful Life Enrichment Program isnt about one person but rather requires a village, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have mine.

In recognition of MLK Day we talked about how long before he was a Civil Rights Activist he was a preacher, a man of God and he had a love for Harlem Hymns so we made a craft using the hymnal It is Well With My Soul.

One of our residents favorite activities happens when Carrie Christian marketer for Beacon Home Health comes to challenge them with general knowledge trivia and a correct answer scores a gold coin. After several rounds the coins are counted and a competitive auction begins with them bidding on a variety of prizes ranging from salty/sweet treats, laundry products and hygiene supplies. A huge thank you to Beacon Home Health and Carrie for a fun afternoon.

What a gift the month of December has been for our residents. I always fear the individual Thank Yous for fear of leaving someone out, but also feel it’s important to say how much we appreciate every gesture made to us. We kicked off the month by putting up our trees and décor and in the evening, we were lucky to have some of the Bethel Renaissance singers come to sing for our tree lighting ceremony.

We laughed and said it sounded like we were building a new wing on to the clinic with all the hammering we did building these crafts. We had so much fun. Thank You McKenzie Hometown Clinic.

Every Monday at Hometown Health Clinic we have Breakfast Club. This is a chance for the community to drink coffee and socialize, eat breakfast and enjoy a fun activity! Today we made bird houses, feeders and barns! It was a super fun time!!!

If you have a loved one who you think would benefit from something like this, send them our way!!! This is a free event and we would love to have you join us!

Some days we do a light fitness activity, some days we put things together, some days we play games & some days we just talk and get to know one another! 🙌🏼
