Our Spotted Does Girls Group had the honor of welcoming Maggie Peters to spend some time with us. Maggie joined us to share her beautiful dresses and inspire our young girls as they began creating their own doll dresses. Her creativity, patience, and willingness to share her wealth of knowledge made the experience truly special. We are so grateful to Maggie for spending time with our group, and we look forward to many more opportunities to work with her on future dress-making projects.

Our Spotted Does Girl Group is currently at capacity, but be on the lookout for information on the next cohort.

🎉 BIG CONGRATS ARE IN ORDER 🎉

Huge shoutout to Shanley Masten and Angelique Hennessy, who officially earned their LCSWs in 2025! This is a major milestone and we couldn’t be more proud.

For folks who don’t know, getting an LCSW in California is a long journey. It means:

• Earning a Master’s in Social Work (MSW)
• Registering as an Associate Social Worker (ASW)
• Completing 3,000 supervised hours over at least 104 weeks
• Passing the California Law & Ethics Exam
• Passing the ASWB Clinical Exam

That’s years of showing up, learning, growing, and doing the work while continuing to support youth and families every step of the way. Shanley and Angelique bring so much heart, skill, and dedication to our community, and this accomplishment is so well deserved.

Help us celebrate these two and their hard-earned success! 🎓💙

We have had so much fun with Ayukîi Nani’Afyíiv (Hello Friend in Karuk) playgroup this past year! In conjunction with First Five Humboldt, we have brought resources inland to help lay a foundation for a healthy future for parents and their kids. Mental health for kids starts with supported parents and a safe community that supports play 🙂

We got to go to the Tishavniik Tribal farm to get pumpkins and do a photo shoot, learned infant massage from Judy Beaver, got dental care information and Redwood coast regional center information, shared hand me downs, went on many walks, learned songs in Karuk, Yurok, and English, made wreaths, and spent a lot of time river side (the original school house). Big thanks to Save CA Salmon for the Kayaks for our last river day of the summer, to Cynthia Kesserling for providing our meals, Rachel Budai-Fieberg for being a co-facilitator, and the families who participate to help provide a fun environment for our babies to learn and grow up in.

Staff Anniversary Celebration

This month we’re celebrating two amazing Two Feathers team members whose dedication, leadership, and commitment continue to uplift and support our Tribal youth, families, and staff.

Two Feathers was invited to South Bay School for a Cultural share for their Native American club. This is our second year being invited and we always love the opportunity to come and share about some of our local communities culture and ceremonies. It was fun to hear all the questions from the kids and also having some of them remembering us from last year and from other schools we have been to.
