We are almost at the end of our first ever series of our SoHum Dishgharghirat girls cultural group! This group has been in collaboration with both the Wiyot Tribe and the Bear River band of Rohnerville Rancheria.

Huge shout out and thanks to:
✨ Our cultural consultant Rachel Sundburg from Trinidad Racheria who came
down this last week to teach our young ladies about ceremonial protocols & the importance of intention and treating others in a good way
✨ The Wiyot Tribe for sharing some of their regalia collection, some of which are over 100 years old
✨ Elizabeth Hernandez of the Wiyot tribe and Trinity Bowie of Bear River for all their support and hard work to make this happen

Dishgharghirat means "you are loved" in the Wiyot language & we hope to be able to provide more groups coming up next fall.

Our last group will be this next Tuesday May 5th from 4-7pm & the girls will be going out to learn how to gather maple bark - unfortunately we are at capacity for transportation, but please reach out to katie.b@twofeathers-nafs.org if you are interested in joining us in your own vehicle!

Spring Break was a huge success! We spent two full weeks creating fun and memorable experiences with our spring breakers.

During the first week, youth enjoyed a movie at the Minor Theatre and roller skating in Blue Lake. We welcomed over 50 youth from the Eastern and Southern regions of Humboldt County, bringing together new and familiar faces for a great time.

We wrapped up the second week with our Coastal crew heading to the zoo on Tuesday, where they explored new exhibits and had a blast on the Sky Walk. On Thursday, we closed out Spring Break with another movie at the Minor Theatre, where we watched Super Mario Bros. 2 and connected with friends from different schools across the area. This final event brought together over 75 youth, ending our Spring Break programming on a high note.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we loved spending this time with you and look forward to the next break!

On Friday April 3, we hosted our 5th annual Easter Egg Hunt and Block Party and oh what fun we had!!!! We would like to thank our community partners for coming out, tabling, providing an activity and feeding everyone!

Thank you to our food and drink vendors who show up every time: Los Giles, Fry Bread Love, Boba Monster, McKinleyville High Football, Manny’s Lemonade and AAU basketball teams fundraiser!

We would like to give a special thanks to RCRC (Redwood Community Resource Center) for hosting a slower paced egg hunt so that all of our kiddos and families could enjoy the fun of finding eggs!

We would also like to thank MBTTA for bringing the bikes and taking the community on an adventurous ride around the property!

This event hosted over 1000 community members and showed endless joy to all! With facepainting, bounce houses, balloon animals, games and more! We appreciate the community connection that Two Feathers has seen and look forward to hosting our Halloween Event in the Fall! But in the meantime, don’t worry, keep your eyes out for some upcoming summer fun activities!!!
