I used to think of stress as something I just needed to get through. A busy week, a season, a lot going on… and then things would settle down and I’d expect my body to bounce right back.

But that’s not really how it works.

The body doesn’t separate short-term from long-term. It keeps track of what’s repeated, what’s carried, what it’s had to keep adapting to over time. And eventually, that starts to show up in ways that don’t always point back to stress right away.

Energy feels off. Sleep isn’t as restorative. Hair starts to change. Weight shifts without a clear reason. Mood feels less steady.

Not all at once, and not in a way that feels dramatic. Just enough to notice something has shifted.

Lately, I’ve been thinking more about longevity… what life looks like at 70, 80… not just getting there, but actually feeling well when I do.

And it makes me look at stress a little differently.

Not just as something to manage in the moment, but something that shapes how the body holds up over time.

Looking back, I can see there were signs earlier than I realized.
