It is really unfortunate that BCBS plans on decreasing the rates for Speech-Language Pathologists who provide an integral piece to therapeutic intervention for individuals of all ages and disabilities. Should the rate decrease go into effect, many practices such as mine, will have no choice but to reduce or eliminate the availability of BCBS services. Right now BCBS is one of the lowest reimbursables for services in Texas, as well as having one of the highest out of pocket for individuals that need services. Ultimately, the one that pays for these reductions are those that have BCBS policies. It is time for everyone to stand up to BCBS of Texas and let them know that this is not acceptable.
