OOO for my surgery today 3/23. Ready to fix a root cause for myself and return with better quality of life going forward. All the well wishes, encouragements and prayers are welcome.

My son taking initiative today reminded me all the hard work to support our kids to be part of their family, to take the lead, see a need and take an active stance, is making an impact.

I don’t want a follower, I want to shape another leader, another difference maker, another future husband and teammate who will share the load with another partner.

These are the small moments that build families, when you take steps and feel valued, when you put in effort and acknowledgement is shared, when you challenge each other and lean into one another’s strengths. This can start young and know it’s never too late to implement.

If pillows could talk y’all.

Sometimes it means they were sources of comfort during a hard connecting conversation, sometimes it means they were a wall between the couple on very ends couch in a way that represents their relationship. Sometimes they’re tossed down because they’re comfortable here and they know I don’t need the pillows aligned in a certain spot. Sometimes they’re set back “perfectly” because someone feels better having things in their place no matter where they go.

2016–>2026 family therapist 1 year into graduate school and a new relationship now a licensed therapist in Texas married with a family and family therapist practice I love. What a way to zoom out and see what can happen in a decade.

Show up as you are family. As a family therapist here for you in all the seasons of life, this isn’t a polished space this a real human intentional space to be yourselves and find each others. Connection matters the most, your comfort and safety and ease is a key part of this work being effective to not just feel here in my office but in your homes 🏠

I’m not talking about rest as in a one week of vacation or a nap. I’m talking in incorporating rest as a daily practice and intention to be able to tune into my body more the bodies of those around me and really slow down in a very intentional way in order to more effectively respond and not be reacting

One way I’m probably going to rest is to play more and do less of the “ productive things “ and for the next three months I’ll probably be on social media less because the scrolling isn’t really restful. I’m still thinking, I’m still processing. I’m still not giving my body less stimulation less to navigate and that is not the point. So come rest with me because my content and my intention with work is always to grow and challenge, so be effective with the we need that AND rest.

End of year share. Heart full when I reflect on what my job gives me in life. Working with relationships, with people who show up to do hard work to grow and adapt and reconnect. I feel such purpose and passion in this work. Working “part time” so I can still walk as a mom in the ways I dreamed of being present while my kids are little. There is no right way to do any of this, I just continue to strive to find congruence and contentment with where I walk in all these high priority and valuable roles I am honored to have as therapist, wife, mom, sister, friend, colleagues, friend, neighbor, and many others.

When the whole fam needs that second cup of coffee to get through the day.

Just saying hi from my dining room turned playroom at home on my day home with my kiddos. It’s raining, we’re stir crazy even though we’ve been out today too.

While I’m not taking new clients for a bit I’m hoping to share more on here and keep serving families by adding helpful content and when those reach out for therapy I’ve got a wonderful new therapist Alex on the team to take care of you.
