A simple phrase and made me so happy.

When he said it the first time to me (he was 5 or 6 years old), it felt like I'd arrived as a pediatrician.

Today, he said goodbye to this mortal life.

I hope that amongst his fellow angels that he greets them the same way, with his warmth and kindness.

Oncologist: well your lymph nodes got larger.

Me: alright, how much?

Oncologist: only 0.3cm.

Me: you know you could've lead with that.

Oncologist: but to miss that look on your face.

I love that he gets me! We laughed for the rest of our visit.

Well it's been a while since my last update.

So my labs and PET scans were completed this summer as part of the primary workup for the lymphoma.

Happy to say that no signs of movement of the lymphoma.

So for now, it is observation. No chemo or radiation.

But I am bummed that I don't get radiation therapy which means I do not get any mutant powers or become the Hulk!

I have recently received the diagnosis of lymphoma.

It is one of the most treatable cancer.

I will be meeting with an Oncologist in the next 2 weeks.

This will be a good fight!

I cannot imagine watching my child having unrelenting seizures due to the encephalitis or watching my child going thru multi-organ failure until his/her life has passed.

Both of which are preventable with one MMR vaccine.

I apologize to my patients b/c I've had to miss work more often lately.

I've had issues with my left eye which now requires surgery.

So I will be out Monday 9/11, Thursday 9/14, and Friday 9/15.

I will be wearing an eye patch!!!,

I have said this for years that BMI is NOT an indicator of health.

BP, resting heart rate, and activity level are better indicators. Amount of weight gain (i.e. excessive) is also an indicator but average weight gain (getting older) does not indicate poor health.
