I wanted to share an update with you.
This past year has been one of continued healing and reflection following my accident. While some of the physical effects of my injury are ongoing and not always visible, much of my focus has been on understanding how trauma and PTSD live in the body and nervous system, and how to support regulation, safety, and resilience from the inside out.
I’ve begun a Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training at Grounded by Yoga in Rochester, NY. This training is rooted in traditional Hatha Yoga, which is the practice of using the body, breath, and mindful movement to calm the nervous system so the mind can become steady and clear. It’s a practical, therapeutic approach to healing the body and mind. The training emphasizes breath, meditation, and compassionate, inclusive teaching.
The past two months have been a deep dive into yoga philosophy, and tomorrow the in-person portion of the training begins. This path is not about performance or fitness. It’s about supporting the body first, so the mind and heart can follow.
I’m doing this work myself now learning, practicing, and integrating what calms the nervous system, releases stored stress, and brings clarity to what creates emotional safety in both the mind and body in a new way. This approach aligns so closely with what I’ve always believed throughout my years as a massage therapist: that healing must be experienced, not just understood.
I believe deeply in teaching from lived experience. We can only guide others as far as our own nervous system knows how to go, which is why this work is so personal to me.
I’m allowing this next chapter to unfold organically as I continue to integrate what I’m learning. I look forward to seeing how this journey shapes what comes next and how I may share this work in the future.
Thank you for your continued love, patience, and trust. I’m deeply grateful to remain connected as this chapter unfolds.
With all my love and gratitude,
Tami 🧡
