It’s all false marketing…🫣

All bottles brands make claims that their bottles…

“Are anti colic”
“Reduce gas”
“Reduce spit up”
“Promote a smooth transition between breast and bottle”
“Prevent ni**le confusion”

….Truth is, this a tactic to get you to buy 💸💸💸

First ➡️no bottle will ever be ‘exactly’ like the breast. But there are 2 main factors we want to consider when choosing bottles ⤵️

🍼A ni**le that has a gradual, narrow slope. This will encourage a deeper latch, as they should at the breast taking in your ni**le and breast tissue.

🍼A slow flow rate, we want babies to take slow, paced feedings and actively draw out the milk as they should at the breast.

⬆️ I would recommend this for both breastfed and exclusively bottle-feed babies because we ultimately want to encourage babies to mimic what’s happening at the breast as closely as possible.

Second ➡️colic, gas, and spit up are symptoms that usually point to underlying challenges that a bottle alone can’t fix…Yet, parents are led to believe that they can buy and rely on X bottle 🤦🏽‍♀️ when we really should be trying to address the root cause of your baby’s discomfort.

If you’re struggling with bottle feeding and your baby is colicky or uncomfortable, I would love to help!

I’m accepting new clients in my Vienna, VA office! Text 301-615-1343 or fill out the inquiry form on my website. Let’s help your baby feed and feel better, so you can rest easier and enjoy this season more! 💫

Many recommendations we hear about feeding and sleep don’t actually line up with how babies are actually wired 🫢

Feeding supports sleep. There’s a reason it works well for so many babies. It’s biology and so so normal 💫

So if an ‘Eat, Play, Sleep’ routine works for you and your baby, that’s totally fine and great! And if it doesn’t, you’re allowed to let it go and tune into what your baby is telling you instead 💛

The other night, my own body reminded me just how hard it is to rest when something doesn’t feel comfortable.

One of the most helpful things I come back to, again and again, is shifting perspective and trying to understand what a baby may be experiencing. When we understand, we’re able to offer more grace and patience, for them and for ourselves.

I thought this perspective might help you too 💛
