We’re celebrating National Happy Hour Day with a toast to our well-being – and a refreshingly healthy mocktail recipe from our National Director of Culinary Services, Chef Joel Walding. 🧑‍🍳 It’s light, bubbly, and packed with ingredients that love you back.

Cucumber-Pear Electrolyte Refresher

🥒 4-5 cucumber slices – rich in beta carotene to help calm inflammation
🍐 1/2 ripe pear, sliced thin – a great source of fiber for gentle digestion
🍯 1 teaspoon honey or agave (optional) – natural sweetness with soothing antioxidants
💚 juice of 1/2 a lime – loaded with vitamin C to give your immune system a lift
sea salt – just a pinch to help your body hold on to hydration
🥥 1/2 cup coconut water – a natural way to restore electrolytes after activity
💦 1/2 cup sparkling water – the more hydration, the better In a shaker or tall glass, muddle the cucumber slices and pear with lime juice and honey or agave until juicy.

Add a pinch of sea salt and pour in the coconut water.

Fill the glass with ice cubes, then top with sparkling water.

Stir gently and garnish with a cucumber ribbon or pear slice. Cheers! 🍹

Artis is home to so many people who served – and we’re proud to serve them back. Bill, resident of Artis of Commack, enjoys talking about his military service and can be found speaking at all of his community’s veteran events throughout the year, making connections with his fellow resident veterans.​​

Bill was also a high school and college English teacher for many years and truly loved his career. Every morning, he leads a reading of the newspaper with his neighbors. In this role, Bill is able to lead a large group in reading and talking about the topics of the day. Bill shares a special connection with Life Enrichment Assistant, Kimberly, who knows how important it is to Bill to participate in his favorite hobbies every morning.​​
