🎹 Not many people can say they provided the live entertainment for their own 102nd birthday party – Artis of Mason resident Rita can. She played the piano to the delight of her family and friends, as she has ever since she was a girl. ​​

Rita earned her Master’s Degree in music from the University of Oregon, and went on to share her talents as a music teacher, dancer and model, even drumming for the USO. ​​

Today at Artis, Rita’s life enrichment programs are centered on her love of music, puzzles, and connection with others, including regular opportunities to play the piano, sing, and socialize with her neighbors and caregivers. ​​

💗 Love is in the air every day in beautiful ways at our communities – and for Valentine's Day, we explored play as bonding love at February’s Power of Play signature event! 🫶

At the Artis Heart & Hands Valentine Café, residents and families shared hand massages, tactile art and other multisensory experiences designed to strengthen emotional bonds and build a sense of trust and safety.
