A Miracle Amid the Storm: Tarra’s Journey

Postpartum hemorrhage is a life-threatening complication that can strike without warning after childbirth. For Tarra, this wasn’t unfamiliar territory—she had faced it before. With two previous complicated deliveries behind her, she walked into Willamette Valley Medical Center on November 6, 2025, carrying not only the weight of her unborn child but also the heavy burden of fear. She knew this birth could be just as dangerous as the others. Blood loss, transfusions, her own safety, and the safety of her baby—all of it loomed large in her mind and in her husband Chris’s heart.
At 8:38 p.m., Tarra’s water broke. As labor began, the medical team was ready, fully aware of her history and the risks ahead: preeclampsia, uterine hemorrhage, sensory complications, and premature delivery. Every moment mattered.

At 1:38 a.m. on November 7, their baby girl finally arrived, joy filled the room—but for Tarra, the fight was far from over. “With Tarra’s health history, her life was on the line,” Chris recalls. “She was losing so much blood. I could have lost her.” In that life-threatening instant, Dr. Knapp and her team became the anchor of hope. Calm yet decisive, Dr. Knapp explained every step to Tarra, guiding her away from distress. “She was steering me away from panic and my fear and toward the process they were taking to stop my bleeding,” Tarra says. “Dr. Knapp and her team went above and beyond for me. After two exhausting, traumatic deliveries in the past, this time was different—because of her skill and the tools used, I didn’t experience that same trauma.” When Tarra was stable, Tarra and Chris held and welcomed their miracle baby: Brandysue Rose to the world.

Behind the scenes, a remarkable tool—the JADA® System—played a vital role. Designed to quickly control postpartum bleeding, stabilize the patient, and restore uterine tone, the device helped save Tarra’s life. Within short time, the hemorrhage was under control and healing had begun.

Three days later, on the threshold of being release from the hospital, Tarra described her recovery as “easy”—a word she never thought she’d use after childbirth. Today, they credit Willamette Valley Medical Center and Dr. Knapp for turning what could have been tragedy into triumph. “They gave us our miracle baby,” Chris says with gratitude.

As Tarra held Brandysue Rose in her arms, tears of relief and gratitude filled her eyes. The delivery she feared became a story of hope, courage, and extraordinary care. “They didn’t just save my life—they gave us our family,” Tarra says. For Tarra and Chris, Willamette Valley Medical Center isn’t just where their daughter was born; it’s where miracles happen.

When Tarra left the hospital, a turquoise bracelet circles her wrist—a simple band with a powerful purpose. It’s part of the Special Delivery Program designed for every new mother. This bracelet is more than an accessory; it’s a signal to caregivers and a gentle reminder to family that postpartum health matters. After nine months of pregnancy and the intensity of birth, a woman’s body needs time and care to heal. Yes, nurturing your newborn is important—but so is nurturing yourself.
