📣 Kansas needs more school psychologists—now.
Our state continues to face critical shortages of school psychologists, limiting access to comprehensive school psychological services. With cuts at the federal level compounding shortages, challenges grow for students to receive comprehensive educational and mental health supports.

📝 Take action (under 2 minutes):
Write to your state legislators and ask them to support investments that address the shortage of school psychologists and eliminate barriers to students receiving comprehensive services and supports in schools. It takes less than 2 minutes to do so by simply following this link: https://www.nasponline.org/research-and-policy/advocacy/advocacy-action-center?vvsrc=%2fcampaigns%2f131259%2frespond

🌟 NSPW — Wednesday: Promote Your Path 👣

Today is all about advocacy—listening to community needs and speaking up for better schools 📣📚. Spotlight the critical shortage of school psychologists 🧠👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 or other urgent needs in your district. Write letters ✉️, contact your school board 🏫, or join NASP’s Virtual Capitol Hill Day. Your voice matters!

Classroom (PK–12) 📝✨
• Have students pick an education issue and free-write: why it matters 💡, what should be done 🛠️, who can help 🤝, and what they can do 🚀.
• With secondary students, try NASP Power Mapping 🗺️ or letter-writing to elected officials 🖋️🏛️.

Counseling 🧩💬
• Identify strengths 💪 and connect them to goals 🎯.
• Practice sharing goals out loud: “Here’s my goal 🎯, here are my skills 🛠️, here’s how I’ll ask for help 🆘.”

School/District-Wide 🏫📮
• Send letters to Members of Congress and state lawmakers advocating solutions to the school psych shortage 📉➡️📈.
• Thank officials who championed NSPW proclamations in Kansas and beyond 🙌💙.

Self/Adult 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️
• Use the NASP Advocacy Action Center to contact your elected officials 🔗https://www.nasponline.org/research-and-policy/advocacy/advocacy-action-center.
• Share NASP advocacy resources on social 📢 and connect with state associations, community partners, and allied pros 🤝.

Let’s make our paths visible—and powerful—together 💫👟

🎉 NSPW Day 2 — Tuesday: Expand Your Path 🧭

Today we’re spotlighting the comprehensive role of school psychologists through the NASP Practice Model and exploring fresh ways to put it into action across Kansas schools!

Here are easy ideas you can use today:

Classroom 👩‍🏫
• Create a “Connection Bingo” card with squares like “shares my favorite snack,” “likes mystery books,” or “has a pet.” Add/modify for different ages and abilities.
• Celebrate a BINGO by having students teach each other something new they love!

Counseling 🧠
• Build a coping-skills menu (breathing, movement break, positive self-talk, grounding).
• Role-play asking for help—who can support you, when to reach out, and what to say.

School/District-Wide 🏫
• Introduce the NASP Practice Model at staff or PTA—highlight untapped areas where school psychs can lead (prevention, systems-level MTSS, data-based decision making, family–school collaboration).
• Feature your school psychologists on morning announcements—share what they do and how to connect with them.

Self/Adult Growth 🌟
• Identify resources your district needs to more fully implement the Practice Model (time for prevention, eval-to-intervention bridges, progress-monitoring tools).
• Use a social justice self-assessment to reflect on values and practices that support culturally responsive services.

💬 Try this prompt with your team:
“Which two new Practice Model activities could our school psychologists lead this semester to widen access and impact?”

🎉 Happy first day of National School Psychology Week — Mon 11/3: Find Your Path! 🧭🛤️

Today’s focus is all about setting direction and building the supports to get there. Here are quick ideas you can use today:

Classroom (PK–12)
🎯 Use the “Path to My Goal” worksheet: have students write a SMART goal, list steps, name possible roadblocks, and brainstorm helpers. Facilitate a quick share-out on strategies to overcome obstacles and where to find support.

Counseling / Small Groups
🪧 Try a road-sign activity: students add “guides” to their map (trusted adults, peers, teams) and match who to seek out for different situations (academic stress, friendship issues, big feelings, college/career questions).

School/District-Wide
✉️ Share your personalized NSPW intro letter with families and staff to kick off the week and highlight how school psychologists support learning, behavior, and mental health.

Build Connections
🤝 Help folks learn more about school psychology by sharing the flyers and infographics in staff newsletters, morning announcements, or on your screens.

Self/Adult
🌱 Join a NASP Interest Group in Communities to connect with colleagues walking a similar path—share resources, celebrate wins, and problem-solve together.

Let’s help every student chart a course, find their guides, and keep moving forward. 💛
