🚀 Spotlight on Excellence: NASP’s ESPS Recognition Program 🚀

Did you know NASP offers a way for districts to be recognized for implementing high-quality, comprehensive school psychological services?

The Excellence in School Psychological Services (ESPS) Recognition Program highlights school districts across the country that are working to implement the NASP Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services (NASP Practice Model)—grounded in 10 Domains of Practice and 6 Organizational Principles. ESPS focuses primarily on the 6 Organizational Principles, because they create the conditions that allow school psychologists to fully practice across all 10 domains.

🏅 Five levels of recognition:
✅ No Recognition → 🌱 Emerging → ⭐ Promising → 💪 Proficient → 🏆 Exemplary

🎯 Why ESPS matters
The goals of the program are to:
• Highlight districts that value school psychologists and build systems where we can be most effective
• Provide a continuous improvement framework to strengthen services over time
• Empower school psychologists to improve support for students, families, and schools

💡 Value of participating

ESPS participation offers powerful benefits, including:
🔎 A structured self-evaluation + objective peer feedback
🗣️ A tool to drive internal conversations with district leadership
📣 A mechanism to raise the profile of school psychologists and our impact
🏗️ Support for advocating for stronger organizational structures and comprehensive services
🎓 Incentives tied to professional development
🎉 Formal public recognition to share with stakeholders and the community

✨ The ESPS Recognition Program is also a meaningful way to celebrate the scope and breadth of work school psychologists do every day—and to help stakeholders better understand why school psychological services are essential.

In light of today's announcement by the Trump administration to move forward with measures that would effectively ban gender-affirming care for young people, NASP reaffirms its position statement on safe and supportive schools for transgender and gender diverse students. NASP supports access to gender-affirming care and rejects efforts that would allow health providers to deny services to gender diverse students or punish/prohibit parents from seeking gender affirming care for their children.
