3 Ways to Start Talking About Feelings
Starting conversations about emotions doesn’t have to be complicated. Try these simple steps:
1. Name what you notice.
β€œYou seem really frustrated.”
Giving feelings words helps kids understand them.
2. Share your own feelings first.
β€œI felt nervous today.”
When you open up, they learn it’s safe to do the same.
3. Ask gentle, open-ended questions.
β€œWhat was the hardest part of your day?”
Invitingβ€”not pressuringβ€”makes it easier to talk.
Most important? Listen without judgment and say, β€œI’m glad you told me.”
Small conversations build big trust
