The 2026 N.D. measles case count rose over the weekend to 6 confirmed cases, including 5 in Pembina Co. and 1 in Williams Co. One person is hospitalized; four are over age 19. There are numerous public exposure locations that people contagious with measles visited. Others present at the identified locations on the dates and identified time spans could have been exposed to measles. See details and what to do if you were exposed to measles at hhs.nd.gov/measles.

Unvaccinated people are most at risk. However, as more measles cases circulate in the community, communities lose the benefit of community immunity (herd immunity), which is achieved when more than 95% of people in a community are vaccinated. This puts everyone at higher risk, especially the very young, individuals who are older, or immune compromised, and those who cannot be vaccinated for other health reasons.

Public Health PSA:

• Hydrate: Water is the best gift you can give your cells.
• Rest: A good night's sleep is more restorative than a box of chocolates (though we won't judge the chocolates).
• Set Boundaries: Saying "no" is an act of self-care.

Words matter—especially the ones we say to ourselves.
Helping kids practice positive self-talk can build confidence, resilience and overall mental well-being.
Instead of “I can’t do this,” encourage,
“I’ll try my best.”
Parents can model this too. When we swap,
“I always mess up”
for
“Mistakes help me learn,”
our kids are listening—and learning.
