Lyles, Frank Edward, 90 of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Everett Lyles and Annie Eliza (Reamer) Lyles; sister, Judy Ann Lyles; and brother, Gene Edwin Lyles. He is survived by his wife, Martha Javene Lyles; daughter, Kay Guthrie (Phillip); sister, Rosa Mae Bailey; granddaughters, Shelly Wada (Tom) and Leslie Corker (Danny); great grandson, Justin Corker (Courtney); great granddaughters, Katlyn Nichols, Elainey Hardtke (Tanner), Emily Wada, Hannah Wada, and Zoe Wada; and five great great grandchildren, Roy, Jack, and Denver Nichols, and Evan and Oliver Hardke. Frank was born in Keysville Virginia and worked in the textile industry for 20 years as a planning manager at Burlington in Drakes Branch, Virginia until 1971 then Virginia Elastic Plant in Tappahannock Virginia until 1982. After that he worked in sales at Berman & Sons lawn and gardening equipment. Frank was a shining light in this world with a musical gift, a love for Jesus and a great sense of humor. He loved to sing and play his guitar. He was a loyal member of Meadowood & Tappahannock/Center Cross Church of God over the past 50 plus years. He sang in the church choir and even sang and played his guitar in a small group called Southern Gospel Singers. They ministered at churches, nursing homes and prisons. He got his Chaplin license and worked alongside pastors and laymen visiting the sick in hospitals and homes. He was also a member of the Gideons sending out bibles to spread the word of God throughout the world. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace from all his work. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home; 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will begin at 2 PM. STEVENS, Curtis “Sonny”, went to be the Lord on April 2, 2026. He was a member of Fairmount Christian Church. Sonny was born and raised in Richmond, VA and resided in Sandston, VA. He loved helping others and his church with his skills as a cabinet maker. His family remembers the camping trips, his love of nature and trips to Goff Mountain every year. He will be remembered most for his woodworking and his love of animals and especially snakes. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Golding Stevens, oldest son, Curtis Stevens, Jr.; and his grandson, Kenneth “Kenny” Gooch, II. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Stevens Stafford; his children, Jennifer Gooch, Kathleen (Tony) Griffin, James (Jane) Stevens, and Craig (Michelle) Stevens; his grandchildren, Melonie (Chad) Alligood, Daniel (Devon) Gooch, Anthony Curtis Griffin, Victoria Stevens, and Emily Stevens; and his 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9th, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM, at Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. The interment will be private.

Earnest Gallagher, 86, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn West Gallagher, and his cherished daughter, Patricia “Penny” G. Free. Earnest is survived by his sons, Ernie “Bubba” Gallagher (Sharon), Eddie Gallagher, and Chris Gallagher. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Casey G. Street (Mark), Dakota Free, Corey Gallagher (Suzie), Madison Ayres (Tim), Skylar Manckia (Gary), Aidan Gallagher, and Keely Gallagher. He was a proud great-grandfather to Montana Street, Sydney Street, Haillie Street, Kansas Street, Alice Gallagher, Kira Gallagher, Bridget Gallagher, Autumn Ayres, Jacob Ayres, Cameron Ayres, Sophia Ayres, Collin Ayres, Ashby Ayres, Avah Manckia, Bentley Manckia, and Caroline Manckia. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones. Earnest found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved playing poker—especially Hearts—and spent many cherished hours in Oregon Hill, where he was known as “The Legend,” fishing, listening to music—especially Willie Nelson—trying new foods, playing the lottery, and shopping, particularly at thrift stores. He enjoyed going for rides, watching sports, the weather channel, and his favorite show, NCIS. Above all, he was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. A special note of gratitude is extended to his sister-in-law, Terri West Eckert, and his nephew, Shawn West, who were the most devoted caregivers he could have ever had. Earnest will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1400 Randolph Street, Richmond, VA 23220. Ernie and Sharon would like to welcome friends and family into their home for a reception following the graveside services; 8299 Tarragon Drive, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. WEIGL, Joseph, of Mechanicsville, VA passed away on March 30, 2026, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johann B. Weigl and Anna Weigl; and brother, Alfons. Joe is survived by a lovely family that includes his loving wife of almost 70 years, Frances Rich Weigl. Surviving are his three children, Bernard J. Weigl, Deborah W. Rosenthal (Seth), Mark A. Weigl (Julie); his five grandchildren, Joshua T. Rosenthal, Brittany N. Rosenthal, Shawn A. Rosenthal (Lindsey), Aspyn G. Weigl, and Jett T. Weigl.
Joe was born in Bavaria, Germany on October 15, 1930. He lived for two years in Toronto, Canada, prior to moving to Richmond in 1955. From 1956 to 1958, he served on active military duty with the U. S. Army and later in the U. S. Army reserves. From 1955 until retirement, except for a tour of duty with the U. S. Army, he was employed by I. R. International, formerly Inta Roto Machine Company as manager of the machine engraving division. After his retirement, he was a consultant with I. R. International. Joe was one of the founding members of the German American Sportsclub of Richmond, VA. He loved boating and fishing in the Chesapeake Bay and occasionally went on deep sea fishing trips in the Atlantic and off the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. He always enjoyed different cultures and meeting people in other parts of the world. Joe and Frances went on numerous cruises and other trips to many parts of the globe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11 A.M. at Church of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, The interment will be private. Shortt, Debra “Debbie”, 65 of Mechanicsville / Urbanna, VA, began her everlasting life with the Lord on March 25, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Aaron Wesley Shortt; her grandparents, Phyllis H. Thompson (Mamie) and Joseph C. Thompson, and Hazel H. and Marvin Cole; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Crew and Father-in-law, Wayne (Butch) Shortt; and brother-in-law, Rick Shortt; aunts, Nancy Rainey and Rose Thompson; and her cousin, Butch Crew. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary Shortt; her parents, Ruth T. Walton (Jim) and Edward N. Harper (Mary); sister, Sheila Harper; sister-in-law, Kimberlee Shortt; uncles, Ron Harper and Michael Thompson; nieces and nephews, Courtney T. Portwood, Matthew S. McLane, Lindsey Shortt, and Emmett Shortt; and a great-nephew, Landon Portwood. Debbie retired from Proctor-Silex Hamilton Beach after 28 years as a project manager and then worked for Horseley Real Estate in Urbanna for 5 years. She obtained her master’s degree at the age of 50 from Strayer University. Debbie enjoyed fishing and boating on the Rappahannock River. She was a member of the Middlesex County Women’s Club in Urbanna. She loved to travel and shared a love for hockey with her son, Aaron. She was known for throwing functions for her friends and family and for her deep and abiding love of her husband. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 pm, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. Gordan Dobyns Sr., 70, of Aylett, VA, departed this life on March 25, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Laura Dobyns; son Gordan Dobyns Jr. (Nikki Dobyns); daughter Jennifer Dobyns; granddaughter Makala Dobyns; and grand dog Phoenix (Woo). Gordan proudly served his country for 9 years in the US Air Force. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. DRAPER, Allan E. – 82 of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was born August 24, 1943, in Jersey City, NJ, and raised in Bergenfield, NJ, before moving to Dumont after his marriage to JoAnn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eunice Draper; his niece, Allyson Folgo Cook; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Felix DiMaggio; and sisters-in-law, Fran Greaves and Grace Knapich. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, JoAnn Dimaggio Draper; his son, Michael Draper (Cynthia); his daughter, Lisa Gilman (Paul); five grandchildren, Stefanie, Emily, Zachary, Lindsay, and Melissa; his sister, Lynda Folgo(John); sister-in-law, Rose Dempewolf; brothers-in-law, Frank DiMaggio (Ernestine) and Joe DiMaggio (Kathie); and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Following graduation from high school, Allan proudly served his country in the US Army Special Forces as a Green Beret. After his service to our country, he worked as a manager for New Jersey Bell until retirement. He served the Dumont, NJ community as a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, even serving as fire chief in 1989. His service to his community continued as a junior league football coach, as a devoted Knight of Columbus at St. John’s (Bergenfield/Dumont, NJ) and at the Church of the Redeemer (Mechanicsville/2000-2026) At Redeemer he served on the cooking team, as an usher, as a cross bearer, and volunteer at the food bank and Caritas. Allan was a lifelong New York Giant fan, which brought him great joy, win or lose. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Poppy and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM, on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A funeral mass will follow at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Church of the Redeemer.
