During Older Driver Safety Awareness Week, we remind you that simply getting older doesn't mean it's time to hang up your keys, but you should evaluate how you — or loved ones — drive. 🚘
Here are a few helpful safety tips for older drivers and those who love them:
• Schedule regular vision and hearing checks
• Make sure your vehicle’s mirrors, seat, and steering wheel are adjusted comfortably
• Keep windshields and headlights clean for better visibility
• Avoid driving at night or in poor weather when possible
• Plan routes ahead of time and allow extra travel time
• Review medications with your doctor or pharmacist — some can affect alertness
• Stay active to maintain mobility and flexibility behind the wheel
• Don’t ignore new aches, pains, or changes in reaction time
• Use your GPS or smartphone mapping for guidance — safely and hands-free
• If you ever feel unsafe, tired, or unsure, it’s always okay to pull over
