Congratulations on a well deserved retirement! ๐ŸŽ‰

Congratulations on your retirement Lt. Walter "Junie" Smith, Jr. "Junie" is officially celebrating retirement, and will continue to serve as an advocate for our members and remain engaged in opportunities in the county. Hanover Fire-EMS is proud to have called Lt. Smith one of our first paid firefighters, after his volunteer time with the Department. After being hired in 1999, his impact has been felt throughout our department in many ways, to include training so many of our members. "Junie" was promoted to Lieutenant in 2002, and served in this role since, most recently as our Truck Lieutenant on the "B" Shift. Lt. Smith was heavily involved in many notable incidents, to include multiple rescues that took place during Tropical Storm Gaston. "Junie" has served on many committees, to include the building of our new mid-mount truck, which he and the Department are incredibly proud of having in-service. "Junie" also served as an Acting Battalion Chief for many years, and was an integral part of building an serving on our Peer Support Team. Thank you "Junie" for your many years and contributions to Hanover Fire-EMS!
