Our afternoon small groups activity was rock painting! 🎨Residents not only got to express themselves through art but also explored the fascinating textures of the rocks, such as smooth or rough. Plus, this hands-on activity not only encourages artistic expression but also helps enhance sensory awareness and fine motor skills. It was awesome to have everyone engaged and enjoying the therapeutic benefits of art! 🌈✨

🎨✨ Residents are getting into the festive spirit by working on some delightful holiday crafts!

First up, we had a fantastic time painting ceramic figurines. Each piece is uniquely crafted with love and creativity, making for beautiful decorations this season. 🖌️❤️

But that’s not all! We also added a fun twist by incorporating peppermint sticks into our keepsake picture frames! 🍬🖼️ These sweet additions not only brighten up our frames but also bring a wonderful holiday scent to our creations.

On this snowy day, we got creative and started thinking outside of the box! ❄️✨ With a little imagination and some fun materials, we transformed our cozy indoor space into a winter wonderland of entertainment. We used plastic candy canes and our trusty exercise balls to create a brand new game—Introducing "Candy Cane Croquet!" 🎉

Gather your friends and family, set up your candy canes as wickets, and see who can navigate the exercise ball through the course with skill and precision. It's a delightful twist on a classic game that brings out the laughter and friendly competition in everyone!

While it's not quite the Rockefeller Center in NYC, we are very proud of ours, here in Mechanicsville! 🌟 Our local gathering spot may not have the iconic ice-skating rink or towering tree, but it has its own charm and warmth that brings our community together throughout the year. 🌳🦌 Today was an incredible day with Ms. Sarah from Cedar County Conservation as she took us on a journey into the fascinating world of deer! 🦌✨ We learned so much about their natural habitats, unique behaviors, and amazing winter survival skills. It was eye-opening to discover how these graceful creatures adapt to the changing seasons and thrive even in the coldest months! ❄️

But that’s not all! Residents also had the chance to get hands-on with a fun game of ring toss using antlers! 🎯 It was such a hit, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone involved.

December Team Member Spotlight: Meet Annie, Social Services Director!

Annie enjoys having conversations with the residents and getting to know them. She also inspired by their stories and the lives they have built. She says the team at Mechanicsville Specialty Care can be described as dedicated, loyal, helpful, and works in silent dedication. In five years, Annie will be a in a role continuing to support the community. Her advice for someone beginning their career in healthcare is to "always listen to the residents while putting their desires at the focus of their care. "
