Don't forget to take care of your own well being while trying to take care of everyone else.

I often here, we can only keep what we have by giving it away but I always say we can't give what we don't have. We can't give what we're not getting. All to often, we pour from empty cups. We want to help people, save people, fix people and make people happy.

I get it. We come into recovery and were so excited by the benefits that recovery has to offer that we just want to give it back to everyone. But somewhere along the way we become so involved with helping others that we get away from doing the things that we did in the beginning of our own recovery to help ourselves. Our jobs do not serve as our personal recovery.

Boundaries and self care are key to being the best version of ourselves to serve others.

For anyone suffering in silence and struggeling, I believe in you.

My name is Cindy and I am the founder of Against all Odds Recovery Services. We are an upcoming substance abuse treatment program that will be offering outpatient services located in Southern Maryland.

I am also a person in long term recovery from the streets of Baltimore City who once sat in those seats through 13 different treatment centers before realizing that just maybe he**in was a problem.

Each and everyday I stroll through social media platforms and see post, quotes, memes, stories, reels, poems, promotions and advertisements. But today, I wanted someone to know that behind all of that, there is also someone real. A real story, a real journey, real struggles, real highs and lows, real ups and downs, real joys and pain, real life, real recovery.
No filter. No AI. No chatgbt. Just a real person.
We believe in walking with individuals who are rebuilding their lives against impossible odds.

I am not unique and my story is no different from anyone elses. Although the Odds stacked against you may seem impossible, recovery is possible and It is available to all of us.
I do the same thing for my personal recovery as I did when I got here in 1997. Sometimes we can make things more difficult than they have to be. Through surrendering, it really can be that simple.

If you are stuggeling, reach out, ask for help and know that you are not alone. Today could be the first day of the rest of your life.
