This month, Bay Apartments Celebrates 15 Years of changing people's lives!

Bay Apartments II offers 6-units of affordable, transitional Supportive Housing for individuals (and their families) who are living with a mental illness and can be successful in their housing with minimal supports and community services. ColumbiaCare provides on-site case management and partners with Coos Health & Wellness for the provision of support services as needed. The intention of Supportive Housing is to help individuals get back into the regular commercial housing market by providing a transition from houselessness to independent living. For many individuals, stepping down into this level of care is a wonderful achievement and evidence of their hard work and commitment to recovery.

At ColumbiaCare, we believe it's important to share client stories as a way to celebrate the important work happening at each of our programs.
During our April Third Thursday Veterans outreach event, a veteran and his partner who had experienced homelessness for over a year connected with VRC staff. These individuals were seeking stability and a path forward. With the support of our staff, they applied for and entered our Grant and Per Diem (GPD) transitional housing program where they could begin working towards independent housing and greater stability.
While in the GPD program, they were connected to long-term housing resources and soon secured a ColumbiaCare apartment with a HUD-VASH voucher. The couple will continue to receive case management services, maintaining the support needed to sustain permanent housing and long-term stability.
This success story reflects the power of partnership and our commitment to ensuring that no veteran is left without a place to call home. We are fortunate to offer a comprehensive range of programs, allowing veterans to come to the Veterans Resource Center and start their journey towards permanent housing—all under one roof.
