Part-Time Human Resources Intern

At our core, Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) develops, builds, and operates communities filled with friendly neighbors, interesting activities, inspiring conversations, delicious food, and plenty of laughter. We also share our experience and knowledge with other retirement communities who seek our management services, helping them achieve excellence and financial stability. All of this is backed by our Health Center teams whose’ services range from skilled nursing, assisted living, and home care. Our central office is based in Medford, Oregon where we have over 100 employees providing shared services (accounting, sales, marketing, IT, human resources, etc) to our communities.

This internship is an exciting opportunity for a current student or recent graduate to gain firsthand experience with a Human Resources team for a multi-state retirement living organization. This individual will be under limited supervision and will perform duties for the Human Resources Department involving independent judgment, initiative and tact. In addition, this individual work on assignments that are sensitive in nature and confidential.

The ideal candidate will possess an attention to detail and accuracy. Candidate should be interested in learning more about operations in a senior living environment. The Hours will be based on department need and availability of intern. This position is temporary and nonexempt.

Pacific Retirement Services is hiring a Financial Analyst. You will provide financial modeling and analysis of both financial and nonfinancial information for Pacific Retirement Services (PRS), its affiliated and managed communities. You will also provide support for development activities, budgets, tax returns, market research and analysis, due diligence assistance, and certain accounting activities.

You will place an emphasis on operational efficiency and ensure that accounting transactions are made in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, state requirements and other administrative policies.

How You’ll Do It:
- Prepare multiyear forecasts and analysis used to meet bank reporting and regulatory requirements, to obtain financing and credit ratings, and to assist management in decision making and long range planning.
- Coordinate the timely completion of budgets with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality and in coordination with the Director of Finance. Develop ways to improve the budget process and create efficiencies.
- Provide analysis of the budgets for review of key metrics used in projections for each community, and to provide comparative analysis between communities.
- Prepare financial schedules, reports, and analysis to assist management in decision making as necessary. Develop reports and analysis to evaluate financial and operational results and key indictors to assist others in understanding how data and reporting can be used to improve performance.
- Prepare special regulatory reports including tax returns, tax assessments, and reports of a financial nature in coordination with the Director of Finance.
- Create, adapt, or modify existing financial models for new projects.
- Prepare, maintain, and update working papers, supporting data, assumptions, and conclusions, and ensure records are retained in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a basic working knowledge of the development process applicable to Life Plan Communities, including: permits and entitlements, operating program development, construction and project budgeting, and relevant financing structure (e.g., construction loan, tax-exempt and taxable bond financing).
- Assist in the preparation of formal financial and/or market feasibility studies for project financing.
- Prepare analysis in support of strategic planning or development activities including: research of demographic and real estate data, and preparation of entrance and monthly service fee pricing analysis.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of regulatory, legal and/or tax documents in support of project development (e.g., certificate of need applications, IRS tax exemption applications, and property tax exemptions, etc.)
- Work on special projects as directed.
- These projects could include work related to financial statements, audits, tax returns, system conversions, or upgrades.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
- Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in accounting, finance or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Excel, and computerized accounting systems.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), business contracts, best practices in accounting, and other outside reporting principles and regulations.

Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) is looking for an Accounting Systems Analyst to support our Manager of Accounting Systems in driving innovation and change in the Accounting department. This position will take lead on the revenue side of the Accounting department’s functional and cross-functional responsibilities for software implementation, process improvement and related change management projects as well as day-to-day software process and compliance support as it relates to Accounts Receivable/Medical Billing, Point of Sale and other charge capture systems.

This can be a remote position but you must reside in one of the following states: Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Texas or Wisconsin.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for facilitating, designing and implementing Accounting change management projects to successful completion – namely software conversion/implementation, recurring projects (primarily compliance) and ad hoc project requests (primarily continuous process improvement).
- Responsible for the implementation, regular maintenance, ongoing support, documentation and training of all software and it policies and procedures used in Accounting for revenues or as assigned by the Manager of Accounting Systems.
- This position will serve a critical role in the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Accounting’s Enterprise Resource Planning software.
- Emphasis is placed on the promotion of operational efficiency, effective communication of information, internal control and compliance.
- Other duties include state reporting requirements such as PBJ and cost reports, providing accurate and timely documentation for audits, cross training with the Manager of Accounting Systems and another Accounting Systems Analyst that focuses on expense, etc.

Qualifications:
- This position requires significant advanced knowledge attained by either a four (4) year college degree (major in Business Administration, Accounting and/or Computer Science) or by commensurate prior job experience.
- Direct experience with configuring and implementing accounting-related business processes and computerized accounting systems is required.
- Knowledge of GAAP, advanced knowledge of Excel, multi-state Medicare and insurance billing, accounts receivable collection best practices is highly desired.
- Project management (PMP) certification and use of project management systems is desired.
- Knowledge of kaizen change management, agile business practices, business contracts, compliance (such as HIPAA) and other reporting principles is desired.

Pacific Retirement Services is hiring a full-time Administrative Assistant. This position will provide administrative and clerical support to the PRS Executive, Operations, and Corporate Risk Management teams, and as needed, PRS affiliated and managed communities.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday ; 8:00am - 5:00pm

How You'll Do It:
- Prepare and disseminate letters and
- reports, answer/triage telephone calls, and organize large volumes of incoming information.
- Assist with all aspects of meeting and special event preparation and coordination including but not limited to creating presentations and discussion documents, taking meeting minutes, arranging conference rooms, and coordinating meals.
- Develop and manage the filing and record keeping system used by the Executive team.
- Work with the team to create and disseminate direct mailings and surveys, and aggregate survey data.
- Work independently, on teams, or as a lead to execute ongoing and ad hoc projects.
- Complete expense reports for key members of the Executive team.
- Coordinate conference attendance and business travel for team members including applicable registrations and travel accommodations.
- Monitor and ensure the completion of outstanding work to insure deadlines are met by team members.

About You:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in the business field
- Strong computer and word processing skills, primarily within Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills, strong written communication skills, and good phone and public relations skills
