Meditation doesn’t have to mean sitting still. It can be movement.
Try this:
Stand near a wall so you can lightly touch it for balance.
Inhale slowly. Exhale slowly.
Lift one foot off the floor, even if it's just an inch.
Focus on balancing. Notice what your body does. If it feels good, let your arms move gently. Let it be small and steady.
Then return your hand to the wall.
Close your eyes.
See if you can stay balanced for a few breaths.
Notice how many little muscles it takes to balance. Notice how it takes even more muscle engagement when you add in your arms. And closing your eyes will engage your vestibular system which brings your focus even more into your body.
Breathe. Feel. Then switch feet.
And then congratulate yourself. You just meditated and did a balancing and grounding practice at the same time!
