When the federal government shutdown began on October 1, 2025, CMS temporarily held Medicare claims for up to 10 business days. CMS has now updated its guidance and the hold will only apply to services affected by expired Medicare payment provisions under the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025.
