We strive to improve biodiversity on our Ranch, while supporting education and positive interaction between visitors and our animal residents. Rusty Truck Ranch is a 40 acre family farm located in Medical Lake Washington. We will be open to the public in the Fall of 2021 for our second annual pumpkin patch & petting zoo. We are conveniently located at the edge of downtown Medical Lake, off Highway

902, just East of Fox Hollow Ridge & Lakes Harvest Foods. We lovingly raise sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, horses, bees, kitties, pups, and we love adding new additions! We are excited to share our love of farm life with our local community, as well as some of the farm fresh products from our land and animals: honey, pumpkins, sheep’s milk soap and more! We have made some new additions to this years list of Pumpkin Patch activities including: a hiking trail, a corn bin to play in for the kiddos, petting/feeding zoo, private fire pits, and mini photo sessions with Mountain Inspired Photography! We look forward to adding more family friendly events in the future, and hope to see you at the Pumpkin Patch!

Of all the farm critters we have, I never expected this to be one of them! Not a squirrel, not a weasel, but a marmot!

I saw Gus, as we are calling him/her, cautiously scamper across our driveway as I came in this morning, and Farmer Matt and I found it again under an Apple bin. I was a bit surprised, and thought it must be lost, but instead it moved in and set up house!

Gus moved into the rock outcropping near our goose pond and started building a den. He’s sunning himself on the warm rocks, gathering leftover straw, and is just generally looking cute!

The geese don’t love the new guest, but our Tom Turkey doesn’t seem to mind and neither do the goats! Now I look for Gus every time I walk by (about 40 times a day!) I am hopeful that we might get some marmot babies!

I got home from a work trip to Michigan last night at midnight (not farm related) and went back to work this morning in my office. It was an eventful trip including a tornado warning, golf ball sized hail that likely totaled my rental car, and a flare of pancreatitis (that caused me to nearly pass out on the airplane because I vagel from that specific type of pain🤦‍♀️) on the way home from my trip. I’m exhausted to say the least.

But as I was sitting at my computer, I got a call from Farmer Matt to let me know we our last goat of the season was in labor and her water had just broken. I got to go snuggle our new Nubian doeling, Blossom, and watch as Chennel delivered her first babies- two vigorous and healthy twins. It was just what I needed to recharge before the weekend.

Everyone is alive, fed, and snuggled.
Sometimes the hard things make the good things that much sweeter.❤️

🐐It’s something I have been contemplating, not sure exactly what it would look like yet. I feel like we are sometimes at a loss for fun activities to do for Mothers Day ourselves, but snuggling baby goats and lambs would be at the top of my list!

If you were even inclined to leave a 5⭐️ review, we sure would appreciate it! Google or Facebook! We really appreciate hearing about an enjoyed experience or memory made. Those kind words are the ones that keep us motivated to continue despite being difficult for us at times.

I acknowledge that this is the downside of opening up our farm to the public to come and make memories. We sometimes spend our Easter Sunday (and first day off in weeks) managing a complaint instead of enjoying time with our kids. Although we take every recommendation and complaint to heart, we cannot control every interaction on the Ranch.

This is a kind reminder to please watch your kids when you visit the Ranch, the same way you would at a park, playground or other event. We have 23-28 employees on site (not including myself and my husband, and if there is ever an issue there is always someone around to help address it.

The great part about our egg hunts is that we hold them every 30 minutes so it’s not too crowded, and if you miss you egg hunt, no big deal! Catch the next one!
