1 in 4 children live without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home. According to the National Fatherhood Initiative, that's enough children to fill New York twice or Los Angeles four times over.
Children with involved fathers have a higher chance of emotional stability, academic success, and social development.
Not only do fathers impact children, but children impact fathers. Statistics show Dads have better physical + mental health, they are happier, live longer, have less depression, and increased self-esteem.
Many factors affect how involved a father is with his children. Some are,
+ Good Parenting or Co-Parenting Relationship
+ Friends & Family Support
+ In or Finished a Fatherhood or Parenting Program
+ Lives with Children
+ Confident in His Fathering Abilities
+ No Depression, Substance Abuse, or Domestic Violence
We know that becoming a parent and/or learning to be the best parent you can be isn't a flipped switch. It takes time and learning. Here at Oasis of Hope, we have a fatherhood program centered on helping dads feel confident and educated on the important role they have.
Our male mentors have been in this season before you and desire to help you navigate this incredibly unknown chapter.
