High-functioning anxiety doesn’t always look like struggling, it can look like straight A’s, busy schedules, and always “having it together.” But behind the scenes, it often feels like constant overthinking, pressure to be perfect, and never being able to truly relax.

Just because someone looks fine doesn’t mean they aren’t fighting a silent battle. Be kind, check in, and remember it's okay to not be okay!

If you or someone you know is struggling don't hesitate to reach out to Medina Co. Crisis & Behavioral Health Helpline at 330-725-9195. (Thank you to our GIVE team students for the post!)

This month is the month of March Madness. The games get intense, the upsets get wild, and the betting ramps up fast.

There’s something most people don’t know about March: It's also Problem Gambling Awareness Month!

About 2.5 million Americans struggle with severe gambling problems, and another 5–8 million face mild to moderate issues. Many still see gambling as “just entertainment,” but problem gambling is a real and often misunderstood mental health condition. With multiple betting apps competing for your attention, it can be easy to get pulled in.

If you’re planning to place bets this season, here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Set a budget and stick to it — don’t gamble more than you can afford.
• Take breaks, and don’t chase losses.
• Pay attention to stress, secrecy, or financial strain — these are early warning signs.

If gambling is starting to take a toll, help is available 24/7.

Call 1‑800‑MY‑RESET for free, confidential support through the National Council on Problem Gambling. Local help is also available any time at 330‑725‑9195 (Medina County Crisis and Behavioral Health Helpline).

Did you know that February is International Boost Self‑Esteem Month? Well, it is and there's still time - February isn't done yet! Consider this a reminder that how we talk to ourselves matters. Self-esteem isn’t about being perfect. It’s about recognizing your worth, being kind to yourself, and giving yourself permission to grow.

Here are a few ways to build healthier, stronger self-esteem:

💛 Practice self‑compassion. Speak to yourself the way you'd speak to someone you care about.
💛 Surround yourself with supportive people. Healthy, affirming relationships strengthen self-worth and decrease self-criticism.
💛 Limit comparisons. Comparison—especially on social media—creates unrealistic standards. Focus on your own progress instead of others.
💛 Ask for help when you need it. Reaching out to friends, family, or professionals is a strength—not a weakness.

Healthy self‑esteem develops over time, and with support, anyone can move toward it. If you've noticed that your self‑esteem has become so low that it is starting to impact your safety, daily functioning, or well‑being, that may be a sign to reach out for help. If you're not sure where to begin, call the Medina County Crisis line at 330-725-9195.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t forget the most important relationship you have — the one with yourself. Caring for your heart and caring for your mind go hand‑in‑hand. When we slow down, speak kindly to ourselves, and create space for rest and reflection, we support both emotional well‑being and heart health. Today is a reminder that love isn’t only something we give — it’s something we practice within. Happy Valentine’s Day. ❤️
