Mason’s three-week Intensive Physical Therapy session focused on challenging extension, building awareness, and strengthening the foundations for upright movement. 💪

Here’s how he got to work:
🔔 Galileo — Tall Kneeling - By taking the knees out of the equation, tall kneeling on the Galileo targets hip extension directly.
This challenges postural control and helps reduce collapsing forward while strengthening the hips and trunk.
⬆️ Sit-to-Stands on the Galileo - Adding vibration provides proprioceptive and vestibular input while practicing a functional transition. This supports body awareness, balance, and strength needed for standing and everyday movement.
🕷️ Supermans in the Spider Cage - Suspended in prone, he worked on pushing and pulling with bungee support. This encourages arm and hip extension, builds strength, and allows him to explore extended postures in a fun, supported way, even when extension is challenging.

✨ Every exercise is intentional. Every challenge builds toward stronger, more confident movement.

Great work Mason! 🙌

Parker’s Intensive Physical Therapy session was all about preparing the body, then asking it to work. 💪

In this three-week session, we focused on building awareness first, then applying strength and control through functional movement.

Here’s how he got to work:
🔔 Galileo + Rifton - We started by waking up his systems using vibration to build body awareness, sensory input, and strength before walking.
🚶 Gait Training in the Rifton Pacer - Right after Galileo, he practiced stepping with improved reciprocal walking patterns, using that primed input to support movement.
🧘 Sitting Balance in Benik - With arm immobilizers, he worked on sitting and balancing without arm support. The proprioceptive input helps activate his core, setting the stage for independent sitting for 2–5 minutes once the braces come off.
🧍 Standing Balance in Benik - Using knee immobilizers, he practiced maintaining midline while standing, first with support, then with less. This targeted hip, glute, leg, and core strength. He made BIG progress, especially since he previously would collapse forward.

✨ One session. Many small wins. All moving toward independence. Amazing work Parker! 🙌

✨ When play meets access ✨

This is an IR remote–controlled car adapted for Tobii Dynavox Eye Gaze access. By programming directional controls directly into the device, kiddos can:
➡️ activate the controls with their eyes
➡️ make a choice in direction
➡️ watch their choice come to life in real time

Here’s a guide:
1️⃣ Navigate to the page you want to create your controls on.
2️⃣ Select Settings (near the top right).
3️⃣ Touch a blank black button with a plus sign.
4️⃣ In the menu that pops up, in the labels section, name your button (in this case “Forward”).
5️⃣ Close the menu.
6️⃣ Scroll down to select “Add Action.”
7️⃣ Scroll down to select “Send IR Signal.”
8️⃣ Aim the light of the remote at the back bar of the device.
9️⃣ Select “Record” while pressing a button (in this case “Forward”).
🔟 Wait until it says “Successful” and then select “Done.”

Repeat this process for the rest of the buttons on your remote and you’ll have a fully functioning AAC powered toy! 🤩

🎯 Save this for later
Comment 🏎️ and we’ll send you a link so you can program your own Zero Gravity Sprint!

Steady. Strong. Strategic.

Every movement in Intensive Physical Therapy and Intensive Occupational Therapy was intentional. Building strength and applying functionally.

🧎 Ryder worked in the TheraSuit to reverse tall kneeling by focusing on terminal hip extension using graded eccentric control. He slowly lowered with control to build the strength needed before pushing up independently, because strength before speed matters.
➡️ Chase did ladder side stepping that helped build hip strength. Hands at the hips helped prevent rotation, reinforcing controlled alignment and the stability needed for safe walking and smooth transitions.
🦸 Bladen did supermans in the CalmBuddy Swing to target active extension, head control, visual tracking, and comfort in extended postures. This helped his body learn that strong, upright positions are safe and sustainable.

This is how skills are built to last! Way to put in the work Ryder, Chase, and Bladen!

When a tool supports the hand instead of just strapping something on, everything changes.

This was our first trial with the Functionalhand during an OT session and you can hear it in real time: more control, easier setup, and intentional movement.

Here’s the takeaway:
💡 Designed by therapists
✋ Supports natural hand biomechanics
🖍️ Easy to switch tools without interrupting engagement

In this session, our kiddo used the functionalhand® while coloring at the Rifton Adaptive Desk, working on elbow bend, grip control, and purposeful movement. When tools work with the body, progress follows. 💚

Thanks to the team at functionalhand® for creating tools that truly support meaningful activity! Check them out at functionalhand.com

Sometimes therapy pauses… because connection takes the lead. 🥲

Mid-session, Bladen stopped everything just to say thank you, to remind us that progress isn’t only measured in reps, strength, or skills. It’s measured in trust, safety, and relationships.

“You’re my best friend.”
And honestly? That’s the highest compliment there is.
This is why we show up. Every day. 💚

This didn’t just look like play — it was intentional communication 💬

Using a Tobii Dynavox eye gaze device, Cris modeled language while Nathan:
⚖️ made choices
💬 used core words (big/little, up/down)
✅ directed the activity
😃 and gave feedback (“good”)

Play is the pathway and communication is the goal.
