Many neurodivergent individuals experience sensory overload, but it’s often misunderstood. Sensory overload occurs when the brain receives more input than it can process—bright lights, loud noises, crowded spaces, certain textures, or even strong smells.
It can feel like:
✨ Trouble focusing
✨ Increased anxiety
✨ Irritability or shutdown
✨ Physical discomfort or pain
Understanding sensory overload helps us create more supportive environments. Offering quiet spaces, reducing noise, or using calming tools (like headphones or fidgets) can make a world of difference.
