When the pH in your mouth drops below 5, your teeth start to lose minerals—this is the very first step of tooth decay.
Drinks like energy drinks and soda (pH 2–4, nearly as acidic as lemon juice or vinegar) can overwhelm your saliva’s natural ability to neutralize acids and remineralize enamel. Constant sipping or snacking keeps your mouth in this acidic zone, which makes teeth more vulnerable—especially in deep pits, fissures, and between teeth where 50% of cavities form.
👉 Early signs of decay often show up as white chalky spots that can turn yellow or brown. The good news? In its early stages, decay is reversible if you protect your enamel and support saliva in doing its job.
Protect your smile:
✅ Limit acidic drinks
✅ Rinse with water after soda, coffee, or energy drinks
✅ Don’t snack constantly
✅ See your dentist for early detection
Acid may be part of modern diets, but it doesn’t have to mean cavities.
