Summary of the Position

This employment opportunity is within a Gastroentgerologist office. Primary responsibility is to assist the Provider(s) with the provision of quality medical care and related services, with professionalism and in an efficient manner. The Medical Assistant must keep the welfare of patients, their families, visitors and staff a priority. To make sure that the Provider(s) have what they need to see patients in a thorough and efficient manner. To make sure that exam rooms are kept clean and maintained.

Duties of Position

Each Medical Assistant will be assigned to specific Provider(s), although coverage of all Providers will be required from time to time. These duties are not all inclusive as you may be asked to complete other duties as needed by the Office Manager, Practice Manager or Providers.
Plan, organize and implement the provision of quality patient care under the direction and supervision of the Provider(s). Anticipate the type of exam or procedure needed and prepare the patient accordingly.

_ Reconcile medications & medical conditions
_ Obtaining Insurance Prior Auths
_ Exam Room Maintenance
_ Provider & Patient Support
_ Management of patient messages

Job Requirements
-----------------------------
_ Certificate of completion or actively enrolled in an pertinent medical training program - Or - 1 year of work experience within a healthcare environment
_ High School Diploma or GED
_ Ability to work 40 hours a week, with some intermittent overtime
_ Must be task oriented and have the ability to multi-task and have good follow-up skills
_ Ability to use independent judgement and to manage/impart confidential information
_ Ability to use clinical tools and instruments, such as blood pressure cuffs, syringes, medication vials, phlebotomy tools, thermometers, etc
_ Ability to professionally interact and communicate with people face to face, over the telephone, through written communication; even during stressful situations

_ Basic data entry and/or word processing skills
_ Ability to print/write words that are legible and easily understood
_ Ability to verify data input and correct errors

Physical Demands

_ Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull 50 lbs and to assist patients with wheelchairs or walkers as needed
_ Must be able to stand or stay on feet up to 10 hours each day
_ Use of hands for fine and gross manipulation of small office tools, copies, computer, telephone, typewriter, calculator, keyboard, fax machine, or other related equipment within the office
