Ascend is excited to welcome Dr. Alexis Werner to our team. Alexis has worked in outpatient and residential medical settings as well as in private practice. Through her work in collaborative and integrated healthcare, she developed a special interest in Medical Family Therapy (MedFT), helping families navigating health problems and facilitating communication with medical providers.

She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families managing a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma/transgenerational trauma, relationship/family issues, and severe mental illness.

Under Florida Statute 39.205, knowingly and willfully failing to report suspected child abuse, exploitation, abandonment, or neglect is not a slap on the wrist. It is a Third-Degree Felony and applies to EVERYONE. Fact-Everyone is required by law. Teachers & healthcare workers are required by law and profession.
The Consequences of Inaction:
*Prison: Up to 5 years in state prison.
*Fines: Up to $5,000 in personal fines.
*Record: A permanent felony conviction.
*Institutional Fines: Schools or universities that fail to report can face fines up to $1 million per
violation.
